Season 9 of ‘Doctor Who’ with Jon Pertwee on Blu-ray #4

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here we are on the fourth story of Season 9 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. It’s time for us to check out ‘The Mutants’, a six-part story by Bob Baker and Dave Martin, starring Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor and Katy Manning as Jo Grant. In this adventure, the TARDIS takes the Doctor and Jo to the planet Solo during the Earth Empire period of the 30th century. The Doctor has to deliver a spherical pod to someone that could provide the key to Solos’ future. The story features guest stars like Paul Whitsun-Jones as the villainous Marshal and Garrick Hagon as Ky, a Solonian who is against the Earth Empire’s (or ‘Overlords’ as the Solonians call them) presence on Solos. Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time for us to check out the third story in Season 9 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. Today, it’s ‘The Sea Devils’, a six-part story by Malcolm Hulke, starring Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor and Katy Manning as Jo Grant. We return to Earth where the Doctor and Jo are helped, not by U.N.I.T. this time, but by the Royal Navy, led by Edwin Richfield as Captain Hart. The story features the return of Roger Delgado as the Master, who previously appeared at the end of Season 8 in ‘The Dæmons’ where he was arrested. ‘The Sea Devils’ is also a sequel to the Season 7 story ‘Doctor Who and the Silurians’, where we met the Sea Devils’ land-based cousins. ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘A Town Called Mercy’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Today, it’s time for the third episode in Series 7 of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. It’s called ‘A Town Called Mercy’ by Toby Whithouse. This is a Wild West adventure for Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor, Karen Gillan as Amy Pond and Arthur Darvill as Rory Williams, as they find themselves dealing with the cyborg-like Gunslinger, played by Andrew Brooke, in the American Frontier town of Mercy (played by Fort Bravo and Oasys theme parks in Spain 😀 ). This ‘Doctor Who’ episode also features Adrian Scarborough (who’s been in the Big Finish audio story ‘The Boy That Time Forgot’ with Peter Davison and Sarah Sutton as well as the 2018 film ‘Patrick’) as Kahler-Jex. There’s Garrick Hagon (who’s been in the ‘Doctor Who’ story ‘The Mutants’ with Jon Pertwee) as Abraham, and the episode’s narrator happens to be Lorelei King (who I’ve seen in an episode of ‘Monarch of the Glen’ and she’s been in Big Finish audio stories like ‘The Contingency Club’). ‘A Town Called Mercy’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

In Season 9 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series, the first story away from Earth is ‘The Curse of Peladon’. Can the Doctor and Jo solve the mystery of the planet Solos and the Mutts? Sadly, no X-Men can help them in this six-part story? 😀 ‘The Mutants’ can be checked out on DVD and Britbox. The story will soon be re-released in the Season 9 Blu-ray box set, so watch out for that. 😀 Continue reading
