Season 22 of ‘Doctor Who’ with Colin Baker on Blu-ray #1

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

This week, it’s time to check out the six stories featured in Season 22 of ‘Doctor Who’ with Colin Baker, which has recently been released in a lavish new Blu-ray box set. I’ve updated my reviews on each of the six stories featured in Season 22. The season stars Colin Baker as the Sixth Doctor and Nicola Bryant as Peri with special guest stars Patrick Troughton as the Second Doctor and Frazer Hines as Jamie in ‘The Two Doctors’ (I’ll be sharing my updated review on that particular ‘Doctor Who’ story this coming Thursday). Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ with Tom Baker on Blu-ray #6

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

And we’ve come to the end of Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ on Blu-ray with Tom Baker. To finish off, we’re taking a look at the lost story called ‘Shada’, which was meant to be the season finale to Season 17, but was cancelled due to strike action happening in 1979. My review on the original ‘Shada’ is based on the 2021 ‘definitive version’ of the story in the Season 17 Blu-ray box set. I’ve combined both my reviews on the 1992 VHS version and the 2017 movie version of the ‘Shada’ story for this review. Continue reading

Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ with Tom Baker on Blu-ray #5

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

The Nimon be praised! 😀 Yes, it’s time for ‘The Horns of Nimon’, the fifth story featured in Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ on Blu-ray with Tom Baker. This ‘Doctor Who’ adventure is by Anthony Read, the previous script editor of the show before Douglas Adams came along. Tom Baker is back as the Fourth Doctor, along with Lalla Ward as Romana and K-9 (voiced by David Brierley). They’re joined by the late Graham Crowden as Soldeed as well as the minotaur-like Nimons. And we come to the fourth story in Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ on Blu-ray with Tom Baker. It’s time for ‘Nightmare of Eden’, a four-part adventure by the late Bob Baker, starring Tom Baker and Lalla Ward, joined by K-9 (voiced by David Brierley). This ‘Doctor Who’ adventure has drug-smuggling and the monstrous Mandrels in it. Continue reading

Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ with Tom Baker on Blu-ray #3

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time for the third story of Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ on Blu-ray with Tom Baker. Today, we take a look at ‘The Creature From The Pit’, a four-part adventure by David Fisher, starring Tom Baker and Lalla Ward, who are joined by K-9 (voiced by David Brierley). The story also features Myra Frances as Lady Adrasta, Geoffrey Bayldon as Organon and a peculiar alien creature called Erato. 😀 In terms of the story’s concepts and ideas, they’re very good. The overdose of humour and the execution of the titular ‘creature from the pit’ have a lot to be desired though. 😀 Continue reading

Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ with Tom Baker on Blu-ray #2

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

We continue checking out Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ on Blu-ray with Tom Baker by taking a look at the second story in the season called ‘City of Death’. This is my second favourite ‘Doctor Who’ story in the entire series (the first of course being ‘Black Orchid’). The story has Paris in 1979; Julian Glover as the villain; a cameo of John Cleese and Eleanor Bron; and an enjoyable comedy-drama plot by Douglas Adams, based on the ideas by David Fisher. Continue reading

Convention Memories – ‘Dimensions 2013’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time to share some more ‘convention memories’ today as I talk about the last ‘Doctor Who’ convention I attended in 2013 – the 50th anniversary year of the TV show. In October 2013, I attended ‘Dimensions 2013’, held at the Copthorne Hotel in Newcastle, run by 10th Planet Events. 🙂 Continue reading
