Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

And what good timing it is to share this blog post today, as it’s exactly one year ago that ‘The Power of the Doctor’, Jodie Whittaker’s final eposode as the Thirteenth Doctor in ‘Doctor Who’, was transmitted on BBC TV on the 23rd of October 2022. It’s the 60th anniversary of ‘Doctor Who’ and it’s time for me to share the first full-length episode of my epic three-part ‘Doctor Who’ 60th anniversary adventure called ‘The Thirteen+ Doctors’. This is listed under ‘The Thirteenth Doctor by Tim Bradley’ page in ‘Doctor Who by Tim Bradley’. The first episode of the story is called ‘Part I: The Gathering of the Doctors’.

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here we are on the final adventure of the Matt Smith/Eleventh Doctor era of ‘Doctor Who’. This is ‘The Time of the Doctor’, the 2013 Christmas Special by Steven Moffat, starring Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor and Jenna Coleman as Clara Oswald. It’s the fourth Christmas Special to feature Matt Smith’s Eleventh Doctor. The special also has Daleks, Cybermen, Weeping Angels, Sontarans, the Silence and plenty more monsters to finish off the Eleventh Doctor. There’s Orla Brady (who I’ve seen more recently in the ‘Star Trek: Picard’ series) as Tasha Lem, and there are guest stars like Sheila Reid (who was in ‘Vengeance on Varos’) as Clara’s Gran. Tessa Peake-Jones (well-known for being in ‘Only Fools and Horses’ and she would go on to be in ‘Grantchester’) makes a small guest role in the special as Marta. There’s also a couple of guest cameos, including a past face and a new face in ‘Doctor Who’. 😀 Will this be a satisfying swansong of a ‘Doctor Who’ adventure for Matt Smith’s Doctor? Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here we are on the penultimate episode of Series 7 in the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. It’s time for ‘Nightmare In Silver’ by Neil Gaiman, his second contribution to the TV series (the first being ‘The Doctor’s Wife’ from Series 6). Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor and Jenna Coleman as Clara are joined by the Maitland children – Clara’s charges as a nanny. There’s Eve de Leon Allen as Angie and Kassius Carey Johnson as Artie. In the episode, the Eleventh Doctor, Clara, Angie and Artie visit an extraterrestrial theme park called Hedgewick’s World of Wonders on an alien world. Unfortunately, an army of Cybermen is about to wake up after their defeat in a war centuries ago. The episode’s guest cast also includes Jason Watkins as Webley. I’ve seen him in the first three ‘Nativity’ films and the BBC4 ‘Dirk Gently’ TV series. There’s Warwick Davis as Porridge. He’s well-known for being an Ewok in the ‘Star Wars’ film ‘Return of the Jedi’ and I’ve seen him in the BBC’s ‘Chronicles of Narnia’ TV series and the 2008 film ‘The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian’. And there’s Tamzin Outhwaite as Captain Alice Ferrin. To celebrate eight years of ‘Bradley’s Basement’, I’m sharing a special preview of my upcoming epic three-part 60th anniversary special of ‘Doctor Who’ called ‘The Thirteen+ Doctors’. Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time for us to check out the ‘Doctor Who’ episode called ‘Closing Time’ by Gareth Roberts. This is a sequel to the Series 5 episode called ‘The Lodger’ and it features the return of James Corden as Craig Owens. Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor is without Amy and Rory (though Karen Gillan as Amy and Arthur Darvill as Rory do appear briefly in the episode). Instead, Matt Smith’s Doctor teams up with Craig, as they work together to thwart some Cybermen hiding underneath a department store. And this is while Craig is looking after his baby son called Alfie – or Stormageddon, Dark Lord of All as he likes to be called, according to the Doctor. 😀 This episode also features the return of the Cybermats (well, one of them 😀 ), having last appeared in stories like ‘The Tomb of the Cybermen’, ‘The Wheel In Space’, ‘Revenge of the Cybermen’ and ‘Spare Parts’. There’s also special guest star Lynda Baron (who played Captain Wrack in ‘Enlightenment’) as Val at the department store. ‘Closing Time’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here we are on the mid-season finale in Series 6 of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. Yes, this is where Part 1 of Series 6 comes to an end. In this episode called ‘A Good Man Goes to War’ by Steven Moffat, Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor and Arthur Darvill as Rory Williams have to rescue Karen Gillan as Amy Pond, who gives birth to her daughter Melody and is a prisoner aboard an asteroid base called Demon’s Run. This is where we properly meet Frances Barber as Madame Kovarian, who’s been appearing throughout the first half of Series 6. We’re also introduced to the Paternoster Gang from Victorian London, including Neve McIntosh as Madame Vastra, Catrin Stewart as Jenny Flint and Dan Starkey as Commander Strax. We also have the return of Simon Fisher-Becker as Dorium Maldovar, who appeared briefly in ‘The Pandorica Opens’. And there’s Christina Chong (who’s recently been in ‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’) as Lorna Bucket.
