Week 52a – ‘The Nyssa Challenge’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Happy New Year everyone! 🙂 And on the 1st of January 2026, it’s time for the final instalment of the latest ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season of ‘Doctor Who’ stories, which I’ve shared from December 2025 to January 2026. It’s time for the BBC Children’s Books adventure called ‘Doctor Who in Wonderland’ by Paul Magrs, featuring the Fifth Doctor, Nyssa, Tegan and Turlough, which is set between ‘Mawdryn Undead’ and ‘Terminus’. I’d been meaning to read this story for the 2024 to 2025 ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season when the book was published in July 2024. I wasn’t able to find the time to check out the book, but thankfully, I’ve been able to find time and read the book for the 2025 to 2026 ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season. Continue reading

To close off our look into the Matt Smith/Eleventh Doctor era of ‘Doctor Who’, it’s time to venture into ‘The Eleventh Doctor Chronicles: Volume Two’ by Big Finish, starring Jacob Dudman as the Eleventh Doctor. Back in 2019, I reviewed the first ‘Eleventh Doctor Chronicles’ box set on CD. To close off our look into the David Tennant/Tenth Doctor era of ‘Doctor Who’, I’m sharing my latest review on the Big Finish audio drama called ‘Wink’, which is the third and final story of the ‘Out of Time’ trilogy, starring David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor and Colin Baker as the Sixth Doctor. I’m pleased that I’ve finished checking out the ‘Out of Time’ audio dramas of ‘Doctor Who’ by Big Finish, having enjoyed the first ‘Out of Time’ story with David Tennant and Tom Baker, and ‘The Gates of Hell’ with David Tennant and Peter Davison. ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Midnight’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

We come now to what is considered a fan-favourite in the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. Even Janet Fielding who plays Tegan in the classic TV series likes this episode. This is ‘Midnight’, a ‘Doctor Who’ episode by Russell T. Davies. In the episode, David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor is without Catherine Tate as Donna on the planet Midnight, as he takes a shuttle tour to visit a waterfall made of sapphires. There are special guest stars like Lesley Sharp as Sky Silvestry, Rakie Ayola as the Hostess, David Troughton (one of Patrick Troughton’s sons) as Professor Hobbes, Ayesha Antoine as Dee Dee Blasco, Lindsey Coulson as Val Cane, Daniel Ryan as Biff Cane, and Colin Morgan (well-known for playing Merlin in ‘Merlin’) as Jethro Cane. Whilst people rate this ‘Doctor Who’ episode very highly, do I share the same opinion? ‘Midnight’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. Continue reading

Because whereas the majority of ‘Doctor Who’ fans love ‘Midnight’, I really don’t! Be brave! My review today is not for the faint-hearted! 😀 Continue reading
