Welcome to ‘The Key to Time’ season – Season 16 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. ‘The Key to Time’ season is my favourite season out of the entire Tom Baker/Fourth Doctor era. As well as Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor, this season introduces us to Mary Tamm as new companion Romanadvoratrelundar – Romana for short – and K-9 Mark II, voiced by John Leeson. In the first story of ‘The Key to Time’ season called ‘The Ribos Operation’, the Fourth Doctor, Romana and K-9 are sent on a quest by the White Guardian to collect the six segments of the Key to Time. Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

And here we are on the season finale of Season 15 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series, starring Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor, Louise Jameson as Leela and K-9, voiced by John Leeson. This ‘Doctor Who’ adventure is a six-part story by ‘David Agnew’ (a.k.a. Anthony Read and Graham Williams). It sees the Doctor returning to Gallifrey to become the new Time Lord president. It introduces the Vardans as aliens and it features the return of the potato-headed Sontarans. It also features the departure of regular cast member Louise Jameson as Leela as well as K-9 Mark I. ‘The Invasion of Time’ can be checked out on DVD and Britbox. Continue reading →

This is ‘Underworld’, a four-part story by Bob Baker and Dave Martin, based on the Greek legend of ‘Jason and the Argonauts’. In this story, our TARDIS heroes visit the planet Pluto in the far future, where the human population is being taxed to death. Season 15 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series continues, and today we have ‘Image of the Fendahl’. This is a four-part story by the late Chris Boucher, who makes his third contribution to the TV series. Tom Baker stars as the Fourth Doctor and Louise Jameson stars as Leela. They’re joined by Wanda Ventham (who is Benedict Cumberbatch’s mother) and she guest stars as Thea Ransome. The Nimon be praised! 😀 Yes, it’s time for ‘The Horns of Nimon’, the fifth story featured in Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ on Blu-ray with Tom Baker. This ‘Doctor Who’ adventure is by Anthony Read, the previous script editor of the show before Douglas Adams came along. Tom Baker is back as the Fourth Doctor, along with Lalla Ward as Romana and K-9 (voiced by David Brierley). They’re joined by the late Graham Crowden as Soldeed as well as the minotaur-like Nimons. I love ‘The Pirate Planet’! It’s one of my favourite stories from the Tom Baker era of ‘Doctor Who’ as well as one of my favourites from ‘The Key To Time’ season (Season 16). It’s bonkers; it’s funny; has Tom Baker in it and it has the hilarious Pirate Captain, played wonderfully by Mr. Bruce Purchase. 😀 Continue reading →
