I’ve had a chance to check out ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘The Lord of the Rings’ films again, set in the world of Middle-Earth. I’m planning to do a ‘LOTR’-styled Advent Calendar for my blog this year with a comedic edge to it. I also hope to make a start on updating my reviews on the ‘LOTR’ radio series once I’ve sorted out my ‘Nyssa Challenge’ reviews for this year. Once again, I’ve had an opportunity to revisit ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘The Lord of the Rings’ film trilogies in the world of Middle-Earth. Whilst doing that, I’ve had a chance to revisit the 2019 biographical film ‘Tolkien’, starring Nicholas Hoult and Lily Collins. I’ve wanted to read this book for quite some time after seeing ‘The Hobbit’ film trilogy by director Peter Jackson and his filmmaking team. I had a fantastic time last weekend at the ‘Film & Comic Con Glasgow 2019’ at the Braehead Arena. This was a two-day event from Saturday the 17th to Sunday the 18th of August. I saw my favourite ‘Doctor Who’ stars at the comic con – Sarah Sutton (who played Nyssa with Peter Davison), Sophie Aldred (who played Ace with Sylvester McCoy) and Katy Manning (who played Jo with Jon Pertwee). Who am I to argue? ‘The Lord of the Rings’ is one of the best movie trilogies ever made in the history of cinema. It’s well-directed by Peter Jackson, with strong characters and amazing worlds in Middle-Earth, based on the books by J.R.R. Tolkien. Without a doubt, it’s the most successful of film trilogies.
