Season 20 of ‘Doctor Who’ with Peter Davison on Blu-ray #4

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here we are on what I consider to be a very significant story in Season 20 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. Today, we’re checking out the fourth story of the season called ‘Terminus’, and it’s the second story of ‘The Black Guardian Trilogy’. ‘Terminus’ is a four-part story by Stephen Gallagher, who previously penned ‘Warriors’ Gate’ in Season 18. The story is directed by Mary Ridge, who previously directed six episodes of ‘Blake’s 7’. ‘Terminus’ is the final TV adventure to feature Sarah Sutton as Nyssa in ‘Doctor Who’. It’s a very special story for me, as it began what prompted me to go to ‘Doctor Who’ conventions and meet people like Sarah Sutton, Peter Davison, Janet Fielding and Mark Strickson who appear in this story. Valentine Dyall returns as the Black Guardian in this ‘Doctor Who’ story and there’s also the introduction of the Vanir and the Garm.

I’ve greatly enjoyed revisiting ‘Terminus’ on Blu-ray, especially with the CGI effects option switched on. I’ve enjoyed the special features on the ‘Terminus’ Blu-ray disc, including the ‘Behind the Sofa’ item on the story with Peter Davison, Sarah Sutton, Janet Fielding, Mark Strickson, Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy, Katy Manning and Sophie Aldred. I’ve enjoyed the ‘In Conversation’ interview with Janet Fielding and Sarah Sutton, conducted by Matthew Sweet, and I’ve enjoyed the BBC Radio interview with Sarah Sutton, which was conducted in 1984. It’s also been good to revisit the ‘Breaking Point’ making-of documentary, and I’ve enjoyed the ‘Finding Sarah Sutton’ featurette. Both ‘Breaking Point’ and ‘Finding Sarah Sutton’ have been transferred from ‘The Black Guardian Trilogy’ DVD box set to the Season 20 Blu-ray box set.

Please feel free to check out, read and comment on my updated review for ‘Terminus’ by clicking on the link for it. This contains a review on the TV story and a slightly updated review on the Target novelization/audiobook ‘Doctor Who – Terminus’ by Stephen Gallagher writing as John Lydecker, read by Steven Pacey. There are also two brand-new reviews on the ‘Breaking Point’ making-of documentary for ‘Terminus’, and on the ‘Finding Sarah Sutton’ featurette with Sarah Sutton, which was originally on Disc 2 of the ‘Enlightenment’ 2-disc DVD set in ‘The Black Guardian Trilogy’ DVD box set and is now on Disc 4 of the Season 20 Blu-ray box set containing ‘Terminus’. I’ve created three new reaction videos on certain characters and moments in the story for people to enjoy.

You can purchase ‘Doctor Who – The Collection – Season 20’ on Blu-ray either from Amazon.co.uk or Amazon.com.

Enjoy!

Bye for now!

Tim. 🙂
