Book Reviews – ‘Short Trips’ (Doctor Who)

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s Good Friday today, and we’re continuing the 2024 ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season by checking out the first ‘Short Trips’ anthology book of ‘Doctor Who’ published by the BBC, which was released in March 1998. There are fifteen stories in the anthology and one of them happens to feature the Fifth Doctor and Nyssa. 🙂

The story is called ‘The Parliament of Rats’ by Daniel O’Mahony. The other stories include ‘Model Train Set’, ‘Old Flames’, ‘War Crimes’, ‘The Last Days’, ‘Stop the Pigeon’, ‘Freedom’, ‘Glass’, ‘Mondas Passing’, ‘There are Fairies at the Bottom of the Garden’, ‘Mother’s Little Helper’, ‘Rights’, ‘Wish You Were Here’, ‘Ace of Hearts’ and ‘The People’s Temple’. There are audiobook readings for some of these stories, including ‘Model Train Set’, ‘Stop the Pigeon’ and ‘Glass’ read by Sophie Aldred; ‘Old Flames’ and ‘Freedom’ read by Nicholas Courtney; ‘Wish You Were Here’ read by Colin Baker; and ‘The People’s Temple’ read by Paul McGann.

Please feel free to check out, read and comment on my latest reviews on the stories featured in the first ‘Short Trips’ anthology book by the BBC by clicking on the links for them, including ‘The Parliament of Rats’, featuring the Fifth Doctor and Nyssa. You can purchase the first BBC ‘Short Trips’ book from Amazon.co.uk or Amazon.com. You can also purchase the audiobooks for ‘Model Train Set’, ‘Old Flames’, ‘Stop the Pigeon’, ‘Freedom’, ‘Glass’ and ‘Wish You Were Here’ from ‘Tales From The TARDIS, Volume 1’ and the audiobook for ‘The People’s Temple’ from ‘Tales From The TARDIS, Volume 2’, both via Audible.

Enjoy!

Stay tuned tomorrow for my reviews on the stories featured in the BBC anthology book called ‘More Short Trips’, including a review on ‘The Eternity Contract’, featuring the Fifth Doctor and Nyssa.

Bye for now!

Tim 🙂
