I’ve seen the two ‘Chicken Run’ films over the Christmas period. These films are Aardman Animations productions. The ‘Wallace & Gromit’ films are also produced by Aardman. In today’s instalment of the ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon, it’s time for us to check out the ‘Doctor Who’ TV episode called ‘The Girl Who Waited’ by Tom MacRae. This is Tom MacRae’s second contribution to the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series, since he wrote ‘Rise of the Cybermen’/’The Age of Steel’ in Series 2. In the episode, Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor, Karen Gillan as Amy Pond and Arthur Darvill as Rory Williams visit the planet Apalapucia for a holiday, but they soon find that the planet is under quarantine as there seems to be a deadly plague about. Amy accidentally gets separated from the Doctor and Rory, and soon there are two Amys, including the younger Amy and an older Amy. This episode also features the Handbots, who are likely to kill our heroes, despite them saying that what they’re doing is ‘a kindness’. ‘The Girl Who Waited’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. I’ve seen the two Disney live-action films based on Lewis Carroll’s works featuring Alice, including the 2010 film ‘Alice In Wonderland’ and the 2016 film ‘Alice Through The Looking Glass’. I’ve enjoyed both films on Disney+, but they’re not great films and they’re loosely based on their source material. Continue reading

Having seen the TV series on Blu-ray and revisited the first film on Blu-ray, I’ve at last seen the second ‘Downton Abbey’ film ‘A New Era’ on the big screen! In fact, I’ve seen the second ‘Downton Abbey’ movie twice at the cinema! In my opinion, I found the second film better than the first film. 🙂 Continue reading

After seeing the movie ‘Maleficent’ on Disney+, it wasn’t long before my parents and I saw its sequel ‘Maleficent: Mistress of Evil’ on Disney+. I’m glad I’ve seen these ‘Maleficent’ movies as my curiosity has been satisfied. With that said, I still believe the 1959 ‘Sleeping Beauty’ film is better than them. 🙂 Continue reading
