Just in case you missed it today, I’ve updated my review on the 2022 Target novelization/2011 BBC audiobook of the ‘Doctor Who’ story ‘The Stones of Blood’ by David Fisher. The story features the Fourth Doctor, Romana and K-9 on their quest to search for the third segment of the Key to Time. The audiobook for ‘Doctor Who – The Stones of Blood’ is read by Susan Engel, who played Vivien Fay in the story. There’s also John Leeson who provides the voice of K-9 in the audiobook. Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here’s another one of my favourite stories in ‘The Key to Time’ season (Season 16) of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. It’s time to check out ‘The Stones of Blood’, a four-part adventure by David Fisher. In the story, Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor, Mary Tamm as Romana, and K-9, voiced by John Leeson visit the planet Earth to locate the third segment of the Key to Time. They come across a stone circle where alien stones come to life and suck people dry of their blood. This is another story that helped me with my ‘Doctor Who’ writing, particularly for the ‘Fifth Doctor’ adventure ‘The Railway of Time’. 🙂 ‘The Stones of Blood’ can be checked out on DVD and Britbox. Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

We come to one of my favourite stories in ‘The Key to Time’ season (Season 16) of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. This is ‘The Pirate Planet’, a four-part adventure by Douglas Adams, who is well-known for being the author of ‘The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy’. This story stars Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor, Mary Tamm as Romana, and K-9, voiced by John Leeson. The TARDIS trio end up on the planet Zanak, as they try to locate the second segment of the Key to Time and they come up against Bruce Purchase as the Pirate Captain. This story inspired me to create the atmosphere for my ‘Fifth Doctor’ adventure called ‘The Space Hotel’. 😀 ‘The Pirate Planet’ can be checked out on DVD and Britbox. Continue reading →

Welcome to ‘The Key to Time’ season – Season 16 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. ‘The Key to Time’ season is my favourite season out of the entire Tom Baker/Fourth Doctor era. As well as Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor, this season introduces us to Mary Tamm as new companion Romanadvoratrelundar – Romana for short – and K-9 Mark II, voiced by John Leeson. In the first story of ‘The Key to Time’ season called ‘The Ribos Operation’, the Fourth Doctor, Romana and K-9 are sent on a quest by the White Guardian to collect the six segments of the Key to Time. Season 15 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series is arguably a transitionary season. As well as being Tom Baker’s fourth season as the Fourth Doctor, it was the first one to be heralded by new producer Graham Williams. 🙂 Graham Williams would implement quite a lot of changes to the show’s format. And here we are on the season finale of Season 15 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series, starring Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor, Louise Jameson as Leela and K-9, voiced by John Leeson. This ‘Doctor Who’ adventure is a six-part story by ‘David Agnew’ (a.k.a. Anthony Read and Graham Williams). It sees the Doctor returning to Gallifrey to become the new Time Lord president. It introduces the Vardans as aliens and it features the return of the potato-headed Sontarans. In this story, our TARDIS heroes visit the planet Pluto in the far future, where the human population is being taxed to death. Season 15 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series continues, and today we have ‘Image of the Fendahl’. This is a four-part story by the late Chris Boucher, who makes his third contribution to the TV series. Tom Baker stars as the Fourth Doctor and Louise Jameson stars as Leela. They’re joined by Wanda Ventham (who is Benedict Cumberbatch’s mother) and she guest stars as Thea Ransome. It’s time for us to conclude our look into ‘The Nest Cottage Chronicles’ of ‘Doctor Who’. Today, we finish off this BBC audio series of Fourth Doctor adventures with the fifth and final story of the ‘Serpent Crest’ saga called ‘Survivors In Space’. This story stars Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor, Susan Jameson as Mrs. Wibbsey and Richard Franklin as Mike Yates.
