‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Visitation’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

We come to one of my favourite stories in Season 19 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. It’s time for ‘The Visitation’, a four-part story by Eric Saward, where Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor, Sarah Sutton as Nyssa, Matthew Waterhouse as Adric and Janet Fielding as Tegan visit England in the year 1666. They meet Michael Robbins (of ‘On the Buses’ fame) as Richard Mace, and they work together to thwart the evil plans of the reptile-like Terileptils, who have come to cause trouble with the Great Plague and the Great Fire of London. ‘The Visitation’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray or Britbox. The third Season 19 story of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series is actually the first story of the ‘Mara Tales’ saga. Today, it’s time for us to take a look at ‘Kinda’, a four-part story by Christopher Bailey. Whilst Sarah Sutton as Nyssa is recovering in the TARDIS from the end of ‘Four To Doomsday’, Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor, Janet Fielding as Tegan and Matthew Waterhouse as Adric explore the planet Deva-Loka, where they discover that all is not as it seems. ‘Kinda’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray or Britbox. To start off, let’s take a look at ‘Castrovalva’, a four-part story by Christopher H. Bidmead. In the story, Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor is recovering from his recent regeneration, but he has Sarah Sutton as Nyssa and Janet Fielding as Tegan to help him out. Meanwhile, Matthew Waterhouse as Adric has been captured by Anthony Ainley as the evil Master. ‘Castrovalva’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray or Britbox. Continue reading

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

We come now to what I consider to be the weakest story in Season 22 of ‘Doctor Who’ called ‘Timelash’. It’s been nice to revisit this ‘Doctor Who’ story in the Season 22 Blu-ray box set, featuring Colin Baker as the Sixth Doctor and Nicola Bryant as Peri. They’re joined by Paul Darrow (of ‘Blake’s 7’ fame) as the villainous Tekker and the TARDIS duo also confront the monstrous Borad, played by Robert Ashby. Continue reading

It’s time to talk about my favourite ‘Doctor Who’ story from the Colin Baker era. It was also the first story for me to experience Colin Baker as the Sixth Doctor and Nicola Bryant as Peri. We continue our look into Season 22 of ‘Doctor Who’ on Blu-ray with ‘The Two Doctors’, a multi-Doctor story featuring Colin Baker as the Sixth Doctor and Patrick Troughton as the Second Doctor. Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time to continue checking out Season 22 of ‘Doctor Who’ on Blu-ray with Colin Baker, as we look into the second TV story of the season called ‘Vengeance on Varos’. This is the first ‘Doctor Who’ story by writer Philip Martin and it introduces the character of Sil, played by Nabil Shaban. This ‘Doctor Who’ story has divided opinion on whether it’s nice or whether it’s nasty. 😀 Continue reading
