‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – Series 5 Summary

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

In my opinion, Series 5 is the strongest of the three seasons featuring Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor as well as being the strongest season in the entire Steven Moffat era of ‘Doctor Who’. It starts off well in ‘The Eleventh Hour’ and it concludes well in ‘The Pandorica Opens’/’The Big Bang’. 🙂 Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Pandorica Opens’/’The Big Bang’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here we are on the two-part season finale of Series 5 of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series called ‘The Pandorica Opens’/’The Big Bang’ by Steven Moffat. In this two-part adventure, Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor and Karen Gillan as Amy Pond receive a message. They journey back in time to Roman Britain where they reunite with Alex Kingston as River Song. The trio soon ride off on horses to Stonehenge. There, they go underground to find a box-like structure called the Pandorica, which has been waiting for the Doctor. This story features a number of returning characters who have appeared in Series 5, including the return of Arthur Darvill as Rory Williams, who has managed to survive and cheat death following ‘Cold Blood’. This adventure also features the Pandorica Alliance of ‘Doctor Who’ monsters, including Daleks, Cybermen, Sontarans, Judoon, Silurians, etc. ‘The Pandorica Opens’/’The Big Bang’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Time of Angels’/’Flesh and Stone’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Let’s check out the first two-part story in Series 5 of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series called ‘The Time of Angels’/’Flesh and Stone’ by Steven Moffat, starring Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor and Karen Gillan as Amy Pond. This ‘Doctor Who’ adventure features the return of Alex Kingston as River Song, who was last seen in the Series 4 two-parter ‘Silence in the Library’/’Forest of the Dead’. There’s also the return of the Weeping Angels, who made their first appearance on TV in the Series 3 episode called ‘Blink’. There’s also Iain Glen (who I’ve seen in the 1999 BBC TV production of ‘Wives & Daughters’) as Father Octavian. Is this, for me, another exciting and thrilling ‘Doctor Who’ adventure featuring the Weeping Angels, or do I think ‘Blink’ is better than this two-part story? ‘The Time of Angels’/’Flesh and Stone’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – Series 4 Summary

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

In my opinion, Series 4 of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series is the best season out of the David Tennant/Tenth Doctor era. I have very fond memories of this season when I saw it back in 2008. It was my first proper ‘Doctor Who’ season to watch on TV after I saw the previous seasons on DVD. 🙂 Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Silence in the Library’/’Forest of the Dead’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time for us to check out the two-part ‘Doctor Who’ adventure ‘Silence in the Library’/’Forest of the Dead’ by Steven Moffat. In this two-part story, David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor and Catherine Tate as Donna visit a planet-sized library called the Library. 😀 There, they meet Alex Kingston as River Song, who makes her first ‘Doctor Who’ appearance in the new TV series. River happens to know the Doctor whereas the Doctor doesn’t know her yet. She’s part of a team of archaeologists, including Steve Pemberton as Strackman Lux, Talulah Riley as Miss Evangelista, Jessika Williams as Anita, O. T. Fagbenle as Other Dave and Harry Peacock as Proper Dave. The Doctor, Donna, River and the others have to survive, since the shadows in the Library contain the vicious alien Vashta Nerada. ‘Silence in the Library’/’Forest of the Dead’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

This was once the first ‘Doctor Who’ episode that I reviewed on my blog from watching it on the TV back in 2015. It’s time for the second Christmas Special with Peter Capaldi’s Doctor and he’s joined by Alex Kingston as River Song for the occasion. This episode also features the debut of Matt Lucas as Nardole.
