Season 20 of ‘Doctor Who’ with Peter Davison on Blu-ray #2

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

We continue our look into Season 20 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series, as we check out the second story of the season called ‘Snakedance’, a four-part adventure by Christopher Bailey. This is a sequel to ‘Kinda’ from Season 19, as it features the return of the malicious Mara. It stars Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor, Sarah Sutton as Nyssa and Janet Fielding as Tegan. Tegan is haunted by the Mara again and becomes possessed once the TARDIS takes the trio to the planet Manussa. This story features special guest stars Martin Clunes in his first ever TV role as Lon. There’s also Colette O’Neil as Tanha, Lon’s mother, John Carson as Ambril, Brian Miller (Elisabeth Sladen’s real-life husband) as Dugdale, Jonathon Morris as Chela and Preston Lockwood as Dojeen.

I’ve enjoyed revisiting ‘Snakedance’ with the 5.1 surround sound audio mix option on Blu-ray and the brand-new CGI effects option for the Mara snake that appears in ‘Part Four’ of the story. I’ve enjoyed the special features on the Blu-ray disc for ‘Snakedance’, including the ‘Behind the Sofa’ item on the story with Peter Davison, Sarah Sutton, Janet Fielding, Mark Strickson, Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy, Katy Manning and Sophie Aldred. I’ve also enjoyed the ‘When Janet Met Martin’ interview with Martin Clunes, conducted by Janet Fielding. And there’s ‘The 50th Anniversary Archive’ panel interview with Sarah Sutton and Matthew Waterhouse, moderated by Matthew Sweet. There’s the ‘Snake Charmer’ making-of documentary and the ‘In Conversation – Chris Bailey & Rob Shearman’ interview featuring Christopher Bailey and Robert Shearman, transferred from the ‘Snakedance’ DVD onto the Blu-ray disc for people to enjoy.

Please feel free to check out, read and comment on my updated review for ‘Snakedance’ by clicking on the link for it. This contains a review on the TV story and a brand-new review on the Target novelization/audiobook ‘Doctor Who – Snakedance’ by Terrance Dicks, read by Geoffrey Beevers. There’s also my review on the ‘Alien Attax Trading Card’ for Nyssa of Traken in her ‘Snakedance’ costume. In the updated ‘Snakedance’ review, I’ve created three new reaction videos on certain characters and moments in the story for people to enjoy. There’s also my reviews on ‘The Passenger’, starring Janet Felding as Tegan and Sarah Sutton as Nyssa, including the Season 20 Blu-ray trailer and the making-of featurette with behind-the-scenes cast and crew interviews.

You can purchase ‘Doctor Who – The Collection – Season 20’ on Blu-ray either from Amazon.co.uk or Amazon.com.

Enjoy!

Bye for now!

Tim. 🙂
