Hello everyone!
Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!
Here we are again with another ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season! Earlier this year, we had a ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season for the Easter period from March to April 2024. I’m very happy to be doing another ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season for the Christmas period from December 2024 to January 2025, and to check out the latest stories featuring Nyssa of Traken, my favourite ‘Doctor Who’ companion, as played by Sarah Sutton in the TV series and Big Finish audios.
Let’s start off the latest ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season by revisiting ‘Kinda’, the third story in Season 19 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. Admittedly, Nyssa is only at the beginning and end of ‘Kinda’, but this still counts as a ‘Doctor Who’ story featuring her. 🙂 I updated my review on the TV version of ‘Kinda’ as part of my updated Blu-ray reviews on Season 19 of classic ‘Doctor Who’ in January 2019. Today, as well as my review on the TV story, there’s my updated review on the Target novelization of ‘Kinda’ by Terrance Dicks with a new complete and unabridged audiobook read by Janet Fielding, who plays Tegan in the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series and Big Finish audios. There’s also a brand-new review on the 1997 abridged audiobook read by Peter Davison, which is included in the ‘Tales From The TARDIS, Volume 1’ audiobook collection.
Please feel free to check out, read and comment on my reviews for ‘Kinda’. You can purchase the ‘Kinda’ TV story either in the ‘Mara Tales’ DVD box set (which includes ‘Kinda’ and ‘Snakedance’) or in the ‘Doctor Who – The Collection – Season 19’ Blu-ray box set, either from Amazon.co.uk or Amazon.com. You can purchase the complete and unbridged ‘Doctor Who – Kinda’ audiobook as a CD or as a download either from Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.com or Audible.co.uk. And you can purchase the abridged ‘Kinda’ audiobook in the ‘Tales From The TARDIS, Volume 1’ audiobook collection either from Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.com or Audible.co.uk.
Enjoy! 🙂
Stay tuned tomorrow for my brand-new reviews on the Big Finish audio stories ‘The Merfolk Murders’ and ‘Dream Team’, included in ‘The Dream Team’ box set, starring Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor, Sarah Sutton as Nyssa, Janet Fielding as Tegan and Matthew Waterhouse as Adric.
Bye for now!
Tim 🙂
