‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – Season 23 Summary

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Season 23 of classic ‘Doctor Who’ is unique for many reasons. It was the first season truncated from 26 episodes to 14 episodes. It also replaced a cancelled Season 23, since ‘Doctor Who’ had been rested for 18 months in 1985 following concerns made by BBC executives on the show’s creditability. Continue reading

Quick Movie Review – ‘The Flash’

SPOILERS ALERT!!!

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Last Saturday, I saw the latest DC Comics superhero movie called ‘The Flash’, starring Ezra Miller as Barry Allen/the Flash. I enjoyed this film. I found ‘The Flash’ a fascinating instalment in the ‘DC Extended Universe’ film series, and it’s intriguing how DC Studios did their own version of a multiverse story. 🙂 Continue reading

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time to check out Season 23 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – Season 22 Summary

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Colin Baker’s first season as the Sixth Doctor in ‘Doctor Who’ is arguably a season that became scrutinised by the BBC executives. Criticisms laid against Season 22 were on the levels of violence in some stories and the show’s cheap-looking nature. It almost put the ‘Doctor Who’ show in jeopardy. Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Timelash’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time to check out the worst ‘Doctor Who’ story in Season 22 of the classic TV series. Today’s ‘Doctor Who’ story is called ‘Timelash’ by Glen McCoy. This is a two-part 45-minute episode story, starring Colin Baker as the Sixth Doctor and Nicola Bryant as Peri. ‘Timelash’ is also rated one of the worst ‘Doctor Who’ stories ever made in the entire TV series. Do I agree with that viewpoint? This ‘Doctor Who’ adventure also features Paul Darrow (well-known for playing Avon Kerr in ‘Blake’s 7’) as the villainous Tekker. There’s also the monstrous Borad, played by Robert Ashby. H.G. Wells appears in this story too. 😀 ‘Timelash’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and Britbox. Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Two Doctors’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

This is my favourite ‘Doctor Who’ story from the Colin Baker/Sixth Doctor era. It’s time for us to enjoy a multi-Doctor story that’s not an anniversary special. Today, we’re looking at ‘The Two Doctors’, a three-part 45-minute episode story by Robert Holmes. This story stars Colin Baker as the Sixth Doctor and Nicola Bryant as Peri. It also features the return of Patrick Troughton as the Second Doctor and Frazer Hines as Jamie. There are also the potato-headed Sontarans and the story introduces a new race of aliens called the Androgums, including ‘Blake’s 7’s Jacqueline Pearce as Chessene and John Stratton as Shockeye. There’s a sunny atmosphere about this story, as some of it takes place in Seville in Spain. ‘The Two Doctors’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and Britbox. Continue reading

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

The third story of Season 22 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series is a two-part 45-minute episode adventure called ‘The Mark of the Rani’ by Pip and Jane Baker. This story has Colin Baker as the Sixth Doctor and Nicola Bryant as Peri visiting the mining town of Killingworth in the 19th century. There, a group of rampaging miners are on the run with attacking people and destroying machinery. This happens to be the work of Kate O’Mara who makes her debut as the evil Rani. She’s joined by Anthony Ainley who returns as the equally evil Master. Can the Sixth Doctor and Peri stop the plans of the Rani and the Master in time? ‘The Mark of the Rani’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and Britbox. Continue reading

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

In today’s instalment of the ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon on ‘Bradley’s Basement’, we’re looking at probably one of the most divisive stories ever featured in the classic TV series. It’s time for ‘Vengeance on Varos’, another two-part story, with the episodes being 45 minutes each, by Philip Martin, starring Colin Baker as the Sixth Doctor and Nicola Bryant as Peri. This story also introduces us to Nabil Shaban as the slimy and villainous Sil. There’s also special guest star Martin Jarvis as the Governor on the planet Varos, and there are guest stars like Stephen Yardley, Sheila Reid and Owen Teale. ‘Vengeance on Varos’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and Britbox. Continue reading

It’s time for us to begin the first full season of Colin Baker’s era of ‘Doctor Who’. This is Season 22, a ‘Doctor Who’ season featuring Colin Baker as the Sixth Doctor and Nicola Bryant as Peri. The first story of the season is called ‘Attack of the Cybermen’ by ‘Paula Moore’, featuring…you guessed it…the Cybermen. 😀 This also happens to be the first two-part story in the classic ‘Doctor Who’ series where the episodes are 45 minutes each.
