Quick Movie Review – ‘Flight of the Phoenix’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time to talk about another film I saw on Disney+ recently. This is ‘Flight of the Phoenix’, a 2004 film about a group of people who survive an aircraft crash in the Gobi Desert. This film is actually a remake of the 1965 film of the same name (sort-of, as it’s called ‘The Flight of the Phoenix’ instead). Continue reading

Quick TV Series Review – ‘The Orville’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Well, I’ve finished checking out ‘The Orville’ on Disney+. After watching its first two seasons, I have to say that this is the best ‘Star Trek’ series I’ve seen in a while (even though it’s not really ‘Star Trek’). It has the elements that the original ‘Star Trek’ series and ‘Next Generation’ is good at having. Continue reading

Blu-ray review – ‘Flux’ (Doctor Who)

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

After seeing Jodie Whittaker and Mandip Gill at the ‘London Comic Con Spring 2022’ recently, it’s only fair that I share my complete review on the six-part story that is Series 13 of ‘Doctor Who’ called ‘Flux’. Series 13 of ‘Doctor Who’ stars Jodie Whittaker, Mandip Gill and John Bishop with Jacob Anderson, Kevin McNally, Annabel Scholey, Sara Powell, Craige Els, Barbara Flynn, Sam Spruell, Rochenda Sandall and Craig Parkinson. DVD Review – ‘Pigskin Parade’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Having reviewed quite a number of Judy Garland films over the years, it only makes sense for me to review her earliest film appearance that may well be her film debut before she became famous in ‘The Wizard of Oz’. It’s time to take a look at ‘Pigskin Parade’, a 1936 musical comedy film about a game of American football, which incidentally is played in a snowstorm. 😀 Continue reading

Quick Movie Review – ‘The Marine’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

John Cena has done quite a bit in terms of being an actor. He’s been in ‘Bumblebee’ and 2021’s ‘The Suicide Squad’. It’s amazing he’s done quite a bit of acting lately as well as being a professional wrestler. Same for Dwayne Johnson, I guess. 🙂 Lately, I saw ‘The Marine’ with John Cena on Disney+. Continue reading

Quick Blu-ray Review – ‘Downton Abbey – A Moorland Holiday’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time for another ‘Downton Abbey’ Christmas Special! Thankfully this Christmas Special has Christmas featured in it towards the end of the special as opposed to the previous couple of specials that didn’t have Christmas in them at all. This is of course ‘Downton Abbey – A Moorland Holiday’. 🙂 Continue reading

Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ with Tom Baker on Blu-ray #6

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

And we’ve come to the end of Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ on Blu-ray with Tom Baker. To finish off, we’re taking a look at the lost story called ‘Shada’, which was meant to be the season finale to Season 17, but was cancelled due to strike action happening in 1979. My review on the original ‘Shada’ is based on the 2021 ‘definitive version’ of the story in the Season 17 Blu-ray box set. I’ve combined both my reviews on the 1992 VHS version and the 2017 movie version of the ‘Shada’ story for this review. Continue reading

Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ with Tom Baker on Blu-ray #5

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

The Nimon be praised! 😀 Yes, it’s time for ‘The Horns of Nimon’, the fifth story featured in Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ on Blu-ray with Tom Baker. This ‘Doctor Who’ adventure is by Anthony Read, the previous script editor of the show before Douglas Adams came along. Tom Baker is back as the Fourth Doctor, along with Lalla Ward as Romana and K-9 (voiced by David Brierley). They’re joined by the late Graham Crowden as Soldeed as well as the minotaur-like Nimons. And we come to the fourth story in Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ on Blu-ray with Tom Baker. It’s time for ‘Nightmare of Eden’, a four-part adventure by the late Bob Baker, starring Tom Baker and Lalla Ward, joined by K-9 (voiced by David Brierley). This ‘Doctor Who’ adventure has drug-smuggling and the monstrous Mandrels in it. Continue reading

Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ with Tom Baker on Blu-ray #3

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time for the third story of Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ on Blu-ray with Tom Baker. Today, we take a look at ‘The Creature From The Pit’, a four-part adventure by David Fisher, starring Tom Baker and Lalla Ward, who are joined by K-9 (voiced by David Brierley). The story also features Myra Frances as Lady Adrasta, Geoffrey Bayldon as Organon and a peculiar alien creature called Erato. 😀 In terms of the story’s concepts and ideas, they’re very good. The overdose of humour and the execution of the titular ‘creature from the pit’ have a lot to be desired though. 😀 Continue reading
