Happy 9th Anniversary to ‘Bradley’s Basement’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog AND IT’S THE 9TH ANNIVERSARY!!!

Yes, it’s been nine years that I’ve been doing ‘Bradley’s Basement’ and I’m still enjoying sharing stuff on my blog whether it’s ‘Doctor Who’-related or not. To think that this all started with a simple ‘Hello and Welcome’ blog post, which I published on the 30th of September 2015, and my blog is still going strong! Continue reading

Novelization/Audiobook Review – ‘Doctor Who – The Giggle’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time to round off our look into the Target novelizations/audiobooks of the 60th anniversary TV specials of ‘Doctor Who’ by checking out the third instalment called ‘The Giggle’, featuring the Fourteenth Doctor, Donna Noble, Melanie Bush, Kate Lethbridge-Stewart, U.N.I.T., the Toymaker and of course the introduction of the Fifteenth Doctor. The novelization is by James Goss, based on the TV script by Russell T. Davies, and the audiobook is read by Dan Starkey, well-known for playing the Sontarans in the TV series and the Big Finish audios. Continue reading

Blu-ray Review – ‘The Celestial Toymaker’ (Doctor Who)

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s Bank Holiday Monday in August in the UK (England, Wales and Northern Ireland to be precise) in 2024 today. Here’s my updated review on the ‘Doctor Who’ story ‘The Celestial Toymaker’. This updated review is based on the latest in a line of mostly missing black-and-white ‘Doctor Who’ TV stories from the 1960s that have been animated on DVD and Blu-ray for today. The story stars William Hartnell as the First Doctor, Peter Purves as Steven Taylor and Jackie Lane as Dodo Chaplet. This story also features Michael Gough in the titular role of the Toymaker. ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Destination: Skaro’, ‘The Star Beast’, ‘Wild Blue Yonder’ and ‘The Giggle’

– – – BRAND NEW REVIEWS – – –

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

This is probably what you’ve been looking forward to. 😀 Welcome to the David Tennant/Fourteenth Doctor era of ‘Doctor Who’ in the ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon on ‘Bradley’s Basement’. This consists of the 60th anniversary specials that were shown on BBC TV in the UK and on Disney+ in other parts of the world from November to December 2023. There’s the mini-episode ‘Destination: Skaro’, which was shown on Children in Need night in November 2023, and there’s the three 60th anniversary specials themselves, including ‘The Star Beast’, ‘Wild Blue Yonder’ and ‘The Giggle’. All the specials are by Russell T. Davies (with ‘The Star Beast’ being from a story by Pat Mills and Dave Gibbons), and they star David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor and Catherine Tate as Donna Noble. There are also special guest stars like Neil Patrick Harris as the Toymaker and Yasmin Finney as Rose Noble, Donna’s daughter. There was a lot of hype in the build-up to the 60th anniversary specials on TV. Afterwards, lots of ‘Doctor Who’ fans and audience members have found them satisfying. Where do I stand on this? Did the 60th anniversary specials of ‘Doctor Who’ by RTD fulfil my expectations? ‘Destination: Skaro’ can be checked out on BBC iPlayer or YouTube, and ‘The Star Beast’, ‘Wild Blue Yonder’ and ‘The Giggle’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer in the UK or on DVD, Blu-ray and Disney+ in other parts of the world. ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Celestial Toymaker’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

In this ‘Doctor Who’ adventure, William Hartnell as the First Doctor ends up playing games with Michael Gough (who would go on to play Alfred in the four original ‘Batman’ films from 1989 to 1997) as the Celestial Toymaker. Plus, the Doctor is invisible for most of this adventure. 😐 Peter Purves as Steven and Jackie Lane as Dodo also end up having to play games with the Toymaker. You can listen to ‘The Celestial Toymaker’ soundtrack on audio CD or Audible, and you can watch the fourth surviving episode of this four-part story in the ‘Lost In Time’ DVD collection. Quick Trailer Thoughts – ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Specials

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Since there isn’t a Christmas nor a New Year’s Day Special of ‘Doctor Who’ for 2022 and 2023, I thought I might as well share my thoughts on the teaser trailer that dropped on Christmas Day on the ‘Doctor Who’ YouTube channel. This is for the upcoming ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Specials. Continue reading
