Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Today, we’re checking out a ‘Doctor Who’ episode that’s very special to me. This was the one that started it all for me. I was introduced to the TV series overall; Christopher Eccleston as the Ninth Doctor and Billie Piper as Rose; and a Dalek for the first time through this episode. It’s time for ‘Dalek’ by Robert Shearman, and I consider it one of the best ‘Doctor Who’ stories ever made in the new TV series. This episode also features the debut of Bruno Langley as Adam Mitchell, who becomes a short-time companion in the TV series. There’s also Corey Johnson as Henry van Statten and Anna-Louise Plowman as Diana Goddard. Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Let’s check out the first two-part story in Series 1 of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series as well as the Christopher Eccleston/Ninth Doctor era. It’s time for ‘Aliens of London’/’World War Three’ by Russell T. Davies, starring Christopher Eccleston as the Ninth Doctor and Billie Piper as Rose Tyler. It also features the return of Camille Coduri as Jackie Tyler, Rose’s mum, and Noel Clarke as Mickey Smith, Rose’s boyfriend. There’s the introduction of Penelope Wilton as Harriet Jones as well as the debut of the alien Slitheen. Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here we are on the third episode of the Christopher Eccleston/Ninth Doctor era of ‘Doctor Who’ called ‘The Unquiet Dead’. And it happens to be the first ‘Doctor Who’ TV episode by Mark Gatiss. 😀 Starring Christopher Eccleston as the Ninth Doctor and Billie Piper as Rose, this ‘Doctor Who’ episode takes us back to Earth’s past where we visit Cardiff in Victorian times. There are ghosts running amok in Cardiff on Christmas Eve in 1869. The Doctor and Rose must solve the ghost mystery with help from author Charles Dickens. It’s time to check out the second episode of the new TV series of ‘Doctor Who’ called ‘The End of the World’ by Russell T. Davies, starring Christopher Eccleston as the Ninth Doctor and Billie Piper as Rose Tyler. This episode has the Ninth Doctor taking Rose on her first trip in the TARDIS and they go five billion years into the future where they witness the destruction of the planet Earth. The episode’s special guest stars include Zoë Wanamaker as Lady Cassandra, Yasmin Bannerman as Jabe, Jimmy Vee as the Moxx of Balhoon and of course, the Face of Boe. 😀 ‘The End of the World’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

And welcome to the new TV series of ‘Doctor Who’, which started back in 2005! 🙂 It’s time to check out the Christopher Eccleston/Ninth Doctor era, and we’re starting off with Series 1. We’re also introduced to the Ninth Doctor’s companion: Billie Piper as Rose Tyler, and the first episode of the Ninth Doctor era is of course called ‘Rose’ by Russell T. Davies. There’s also the introduction of Camille Coduri as Jackie Tyler, Rose’s mum and Noel Clarke as Mickey Smith, Rose’s boyfriend. Our look into John Hurt as the War Doctor in ‘Doctor Who’ has been quick so far in the 60th Anniversary Marathon. We finish it off by checking out the third story of ‘The War Doctor’ series of Big Finish audios called ‘Agents of Chaos’. There are more ‘War Doctor’ stories to check out, but this is the penultimate box set audio adventure featuring John Hurt as the War Doctor. I’m sure they will be a point when I’ll be checking out ‘Casualties of War’, the fourth box set audio adventure with John Hurt, as well ‘The War Doctor Begins’ audios featuring Jonathon Carley. Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

I know we’re jumping ahead with this one in terms of the TV series’ history for the 60th Anniversary Marathon, but we might as well talk about it here. It’s time to check out ‘The Night of the Doctor’ by Steven Moffat, a special six-minute mini-episode celebrating the 50th anniversary of ‘Doctor Who’. Transmitted in 2013, ‘The Night of the Doctor’ stars Paul McGann, who returns to play the Eighth Doctor. This mini-episode also features the regeneration between him and John Hurt as the War Doctor. There’s also Emma Campbell-Jones as Cass, who has reprised the role in a box set of Big Finish audios recently, and there’s Clare Higgins as Ohila of the Sisterhood of Karn. ‘The Night of the Doctor’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray, BBC iPlayer and here via the official ‘Doctor Who’ YouTube channel. 😀 Continue reading →

In some respects, Paul McGann as the Eighth Doctor in ‘Doctor Who’ only had one adventure in his TV tenure, which is of course ‘The TV Movie’.
