At last! I’m up to date with checking out the latest Big Finish audios of ‘Doctor Who’ featuring Sarah Sutton as Nyssa in this year’s ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season from December 2025 to January 2026. And I’ve checked out the most epic Big Finish audio story of ‘Doctor Who’ ever made, which is spread out across two box sets, both on CD and as a download. It’s time for ‘Hooklight’, an epic 12-part ‘Doctor Who’ audio adventure by Tim Foley, starring Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor, Sarah Sutton as Nyssa, Janet Fielding as Tegan Jovanka and Matthew Waterhouse as Adric. I’m so pleased I’ve been able to check out and do a brand-new review on the epic 12-part story at last!

‘Hooklight’ is directed by Ken Bentley and it features special guest stars like Kieran Bew, Alan Cox and Celia Imrie. Celia Imrie is someone you might recognise from seeing in the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series, as she guest starred in the episode ‘The Bells of Saint John’ with Matt Smith and Jenna Coleman. This story also features Paul McGann as the Eighth Doctor, who appears in the second half of ‘Hooklight’. This is the first Big Finish audio story to be made as a 12-parter and it’s the first 12-part ‘Doctor Who’ story since ‘The Daleks’ Master Plan’ with William Hartnell. I’ve yet to share my own 12-part story ‘Orionis’ in my ‘Fifth Doctor’ series. Does ‘Hooklight’ live up to the expectations of being a worthy epic adventure? Is it as compelling as it seems?
