Hello everyone! 🙂
Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!
I know I shared my review on this ‘Doctor Who’ story last year, but since this six-part audio adventure leads directly into the next story ‘Hooklight’, which is a twelve-part audio adventure, I decided to revisit it in order to be familiar with what went on in that story as well as what happened at the end. Hopefully, it’ll prepare me in terms of what to expect when it comes to checking out and reviewing ‘Hooklight’. Anyway, for today’s instalment of ‘The Nyssa Challenge’, let’s revisit ‘The Great Beyond’ by James Kettle, starring Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor, Sarah Sutton as Nyssa, Janet Fielding as Tegan and Matthew Waterhouse as Adric.
The story also features special guest stars like Philip Hurd-Wood, Maggie Service and Andrew Wincott. The director for ‘The Great Beyond’ is Ken Bentley. Since sharing my review on ‘The Great Beyond’ last year, I’ve had my CD covers for the story signed by Sarah Sutton, Peter Davison and Janet Fielding when I saw them at ‘Happy Who Year’ at the Epsom Playhouse theatre in Epsom in January 2025. I’ve updated my review accordingly. I enjoyed checking out ‘The Great Beyond’ again as an audio story, though my opinion on it still stands in terms of how I regard this six-part audio adventure and whether I found it epic and worthwhile or not.
Please feel free to check out, read and comment on my review on ‘The Great Beyond’ by clicking on the link for it. You can purchase ‘The Great Beyond’ either as a CD box set from Amazon.co.uk or Amazon.com, or as a CD box set or as a download from the Big Finish website.
Enjoy! 🙂
Stay tuned tomorrow for my brand-new review on the Big Finish audio story ‘Hooklight’, starring Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor, Paul McGann as the Eighth Doctor, Sarah Sutton as Nyssa, Janet Fielding as Tegan and Matthew Waterhouse as Adric.
Bye for now!
Tim 🙂
