Hello everyone! 🙂
Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!
Today, it’s time for a Genesis!

MASTER: Specifically, the Genesis…of the Cybermen.
Sorry, I couldn’t resist! 😀 Anyway, here we have the first of a few brand-new reviews in this year’s ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season from December 2025 to January 2026. It’s time for us to check out ‘Genesis of the Cybermen’, one of the latest in ‘The Lost Stories’ range of Big Finish audios in ‘Doctor Who’. This happens to be a four-part story by David K. Barnes (who I’ve come across before in stories like ‘The Dalek Occupation of Winter’, ‘Daughter of the Gods’ and ‘Fond Farewell’ in the ‘Old Friends’ audio anthology). It’s based on an original TV storyline by Gerry Davis, co-creator of the Cybermen.
‘Genesis of the Cybermen’ stars Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor, Sarah Sutton as Nyssa, Janet Fielding as Tegan and Matthew Waterhouse as Adric. It’s been fascinating to check out this audio story, as it technically precedes significant Cybermen stories in the Fifth Doctor era of ‘Doctor Who’, including ‘Earthshock’ and ‘Spare Parts’. The story’s guest cast includes Colin Tierney, Nuhazet Diaz Cano and Kelly Price. There’s also Nicholas Briggs as the voice of the Cybermen. ‘Genesis of the Cybermen’ is directed by David O’Mahoney, who previously directed the audio adaptation of ‘Goth Opera’, which was released in 2024. Is ‘Genesis of the Cybermen’ a worthwhile ‘Doctor Who’ audio story?
Please feel free to check out, read and comment on my latest review on ‘Genesis of the Cybermen’ by clicking on the link for it. You can purchase ‘Genesis of the Cybermen’ either as a CD from Amazon.co.uk or Amazon.com, or as a download via the Big Finish website.
Enjoy! 🙂
Stay tuned tomorrow for a revisit of my review on the Big Finish audio story ‘The Great Beyond’, starring Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor, Sarah Sutton as Nyssa, Janet Fielding as Tegan and Matthew Waterhouse as Adric.
Bye for now!
Tim 🙂
