CD Review – ‘Snare’ (Doctor Who)

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

After checking out ‘Vampire Weekend’, the first of ‘The Thirteenth Doctor Adventures’ of ‘Doctor Who’ by Big Finish, starring Jodie Whittaker and Mandip Gill, it’s time to check out the first of ‘The Ninth Doctor Adventures’ starring Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper. I’m pleased to be making a start on checking out these audios at last, especially as they’re for eras of ‘Doctor Who’ that I personally love. The Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper era of ‘Doctor Who’ is particularly special for me, since it was the first era for me to be introduced to in the new TV series. I’m glad Chris Eccleston and Billie Piper have reunited to do more ‘Doctor Who’ audio stories as the Ninth Doctor and Rose. Continue reading

CD Review – ‘Vampire Weekend’ (Doctor Who)

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

This year, it’s the 62nd anniversary of ‘Doctor Who’! 🙂 To celebrate the occasion and in the build-up to the 62nd anniversary on the 23rd of November, I’ve decided to check out the latest Big Finish audios of ‘Doctor Who’ featuring the Thirteenth Doctor and Yaz as well as the Ninth Doctor and Rose. I’ve been meaning to check out these Big Finish audio adventures for quite some time, but I’ve been busy with updating my ‘Doctor Who’ reviews on the stories in Seasons 20 and 25 of the classic TV series, based on their ‘Collection’ Blu-ray box sets. Thankfully, I can find some time to check out and listen to some of the latest Big Finish audio stories to review on my blog. Continue reading

‘Beast Wars’ Review #24 – ‘Aftermath’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time to start checking out Season 2 of the ‘Beast Wars: Transformers’ TV series. In the first episode of Season 2 of ‘Beast Wars’ called ‘Aftermath’, we see numerous changes made to the TV show’s cast line-up, both on the Maximal and the Predacon sides. Following on from the end of ‘Other Voices’ in Season 1, the Maximals and the Predacons find themselves in trouble when a quantum surge hits the mysterious planet they’re on. This episode is where we’re introduced the new Transmetal forms of some of our characters. I recall purchasing the toy versions of the Transmetal ‘Beast Wars’ characters when I was getting into the TV show as a kid. Such happy, exciting times for me as a kid in the late 1990s. 🙂 The first time I saw this ‘Beast Wars’ episode was on Easter Monday in April 1999. I recorded it on VHS and saw it umpteen times. Is this episode a good follow-up to the end of ‘Other Voices’ as well as the beginning to Season 2 of ‘Beast Wars’? Continue reading

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

I’m currently in a ‘Dad’s Army’ mood! 😀 Back in May this year, we had the VE Day 80th anniversary celebrations in the UK. One of the celebrations shown on the BBC was a live concert called ‘VE Day 80: A Celebration to Remember’. The King and Queen attended it. 🙂 Continue reading

Cinema Experience – The Christopher McQuarrie era of ‘Mission: Impossible’ films (November 2025)

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ and I’m Tim Bradley!

For four nights over the past weekend, my Mum and I have been enjoying the last four ‘Mission: Impossible’ films directed by Christopher McQuarrie, starring Tom Cruise, at Cineworld in Cardiff. That wasn’t planned since we intended to just see two ‘M:I’ movies.

Quick DVD Review – ‘State Fair’ (1945)

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It was my Dad’s birthday recently and as a present, I gave him the 2-disc collector’s edition of the 1945 film ‘State Fair’ on DVD. This is a Rodgers and Hammerstein musical film made directly for the cinema. I’m pleased my Dad enjoyed this musical film recently. Continue reading

‘Beast Wars’ Review #23 – ‘Other Voices’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here we are! We’ve made it! This is the two-part finale of Season 1 of the ‘Beast Wars: Transformers’ TV series. This is ‘Other Voices’, a two-part story featuring the Maximals and the Predacons in a battle against time, as the mysterious aliens with their strange artefacts on this mysterious planet come with the intention of destroying their ‘experiment’, thanks to the Beast Wars taking place. Optimus Primal must find a way to stop the aliens from destroying the planet completely as well as the Maximals, Predacons and other living beings. Will it mean having to self-sacrifice himself in the process? I first saw this two-part story on Good Friday in April 1999 via GMTV. I rewatched it numerous times, especially as it’s a very dramatic close to Season 1 and it features a shocking cliffhanger. What is it about this two-part finale that traumatised me as a young kid when I saw it over the Easter holidays in 1999, especially since I recorded it on VHS tape? Continue reading

Book Review – ‘Back to the Future, Part II’ (Novelization)

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

No sooner have I done a blog post about me revisiting the first ‘Back to the Future’ film at the cinema recently, here I am again with another ‘Back to the Future’ blog post! 😀 This time however, I’m sharing my thoughts on the ‘Back to the Future, Part II’ movie novelization by Craig Shaw Gardner, based on the screenplay by producer Bob Gale and on the story by director Robert Zemeckis and producer Bob Gale. I’ve greatly enjoyed checking out this book. 🙂 Continue reading
