Hello everyone! 🙂
Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!
Last weekend, I had a great time attending the ‘Bury Comic Con’ in June 2025. Bury is a market town on the River Irwell in the Metropolitan Borough of Bury, Greater Manchester, England. I got there from Cardiff via train to Manchester and then via tram to Bury itself. 🙂
It was the first time I’ve ever been on a tram in the Manchester area. It was a very exciting experience. I now know what to do when I need to go to places in Manchester. 😀 It was great to go to Bury for the ‘Bury Comic Con’, especially since it was a free entry all-day event.
The event took place on Sunday the 29th of June 2025. It was quite an unusual event, as it took place across Bury Town Centre, meaning that there wasn’t one specific place to go to for the comic con. There were so many activities happening in the Bury Town Centre.
There was a ‘Star Wars’ zone happening in the Rock in St. John’s Square as well as movie vehicles, a trader zone in the Mill Gate Shopping Centre, a cosplay and creator zone in the Met, a Jurassic zone in Kay Gardens and a comic creator zone in the Bury Art Museum.
The main attraction of the comic con for me was attending the ‘Doctor Who’ and guest zone at the Fusilier Museum. It’s where I got to see my favourite ‘Doctor Who’ stars – Sarah Sutton (Nyssa), Peter Davison (the Fifth Doctor) and Janet Fielding (Tegan). Amazing! 😀
It was lovely to see these three ‘Doctor Who’ stars at the comic con. Apparently, they were staying overnight at the same Premier Inn I was staying at in Bury. I actually bumped into Peter Davison on my way out of the lift on Saturday evening, which was a nice surprise. 🙂
It was a very busy day attending the comic con, especially when seeing Sarah, Peter and Janet at the museum. Peter’s queue was very long compared to Sarah and Janet’s. Plus, we, as attendees, had to go all the way to the top floor to see them for autographs and selfies. 😐
It wasn’t helped by the fact it was very hot that day and there wasn’t very much air conditioning, despite the windows being open. I can’t say it was an ideal situation for us as attendees as well as for the guests, but I’m happy I got to see Sarah, Peter and Janet.
It was lovely to see Sarah Sutton again. We had nice chats throughout the day, which I enjoyed. I told Sarah I’m continuing to enjoy ‘The Moon Stallion’ audiobook, especially as it helps me to go to sleep at night. Sarah teased me by saying that she has a ‘boring voice’.
I gave her a look, and she laughed at that before I corrected her, saying she has a very calming voice when reading ‘The Moon Stallion’ on audio. 😀 Sarah signed my Blu-ray booklet of Season 18 of ‘Doctor Who’ for me and I had a nice selfie with Sarah that day. 🙂
It was good to see Peter Davison again and he signed the DVD box set cover of the original ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ BBC TV series for me and the Bradley family. I shared with Peter that I was co-running the Peter Davison Hub on Facebook, which stunned him. 🙂
And it was great to see Janet Fielding at the comic con. Janet had an issue with credit/debit card payments for autographs in the morning, but thankfully, they were sorted out. I’m so glad she signed one of my Blu-ray covers for ‘The Power of the Doctor’ that day.
I had selfies with Peter and Janet at the comic con too. 🙂 Cuddles, my cuddly toy dog, had a selfie with Sarah Sutton that day, which he was very pleased about. 😀 Sarah said that Cuddles is a well-travelled dog, and it’s true. Who knows where else Cuddles will go next? 😀
Around lunchtime, I explored more of Bury Town Centre to see whether I could find the other zones of the comic con by using the map. Thankfully, I found the movie vehicles, positioned at the Rock and outside the Racconto Lounge, where I had an evening meal. 🙂
These consisted of Transformers vehicles, mostly from the movies, including Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Barricade. There was a Bumblebee cosplayer who had photos with some kids in the area and I took a photo of two Batmen that attended the comic con.
That afternoon, I had a selfie with Sarah, Peter and Janet, which I’m very pleased about. I also managed to record a quick conversation with Sarah using my phone. I planned to do a ‘Keeper of Traken’ interview with Sarah that day, but as it was so busy, it wasn’t possible.
In our quick conversation, we mainly talked about the birthday photos she sent me in May, an upcoming ‘Keeper of Traken’ event she’s going to do in August, Billie Piper replacing Ncuti Gatwa in ‘Doctor Who’ and I told her a joke, which she wanted to hear. 😀
Here’s the quick conversation I had with Sarah Sutton at ‘Bury Comic Con 2025’ in the YouTube video below.
Enjoy! 🙂
I said goodbye to Sarah before I finished for today, which is great. I shared with Sarah that I’d been doing Quick Reaction videos on Series 15 of ‘Doctor Who’. I mentioned about the cat getting killed off in ‘The Robot Revolution’, which she was quite shocked by. 😀
‘Bury Comic Con 2025’ has been a very enjoyable and invigorating experience for me. I can’t say it’s been entirely satisfying with it being a hot day. The guests also had their signing tables on the top floor of the Fusilier Museum. This wasn’t helped by long queues.
But I’m pleased I managed to achieve about everything I wanted to do with going to ‘Bury Comic Con’ and seeing Sarah Sutton, Peter Davison and Janet Fielding for autographs and selfies. I’m so glad I reunited with Sarah for chats and that I recorded a quick chat with her.
I’m looking forward to when I see Sarah Sutton again at another convention. The next one for me with Sarah is ‘Happy Who Year’ at the Lights theatre in Andover, but that’ll be in January 2026. Before that, there’s the ‘Film & Comic Con Cardiff’ where I’ll be seeing Millie Gibson again.
I would like to see Sarah Sutton again at a comic con before the end of 2025. It’d be nice to see her along with other ‘Doctor Who’ stars like Peter Davison and Janet Fielding. Whatever happens for the rest of the year, I’m hoping I’ll be seeing Sarah at another convention soon.
In the meantime, I need to get things ready for a weekend in London in August where I’ll be seeing the stage version of ‘Fawlty Towers’ for a second time as well as the stage musical of ‘Back to the Future’. Stay tuned!
Thanks for reading!
Bye for now!
Tim 🙂
