What they did with Omega this time was the main disappointment for me. The surprise returns of friendly faces were very nice of course. Thanks, Tim.

      Hi scifimike,

Yeah, it was very disappointing how Omega turned out. Even if the Rani getting eaten up by Omega was very entertaining. I was so pleased to see Jodie Whittaker back as the Thirteenth Doctor as well as Anita and Rose Noble.

      Many thanks for your comments.

        Hi scifimike,

I’m surprised it wasn’t Shirley Bingham in ‘The Legend of Ruby Sunday/Empire of Death’, as she’s been in more U.N.I.T. stories compared to Morris Gibbons. Maybe there should be a U.N.I.T. story featuring both Shirley and Morris.

        Best wishes,

        Tim 🙂

Okay, so… Not had a chance to see this yet, but it’s been impossible to avoid the late-arrival spoilers on this.

From the big collection of spoilers, I only have one that gave me a genuine ‘Oh, NO,‘ moment. And that was: ‘Oh, NO, did we only get him for two seasons?’ We only got Colin for two and we forever feel short-changed for that.

I know we can point to Big Finish, they’re catching up on their Thirteenth Doctor and Yaz storylines right now, but the sense of brevity to this era feels shocking. Second only to Christopher Eccleston’s turn in the role as the Ninth Doctor. Ninteeen episodes in total, including The Giggle, for Ncuti Gatwa feels… Oof.

I know why it’s happened. Gatwa is in popular demand, both on stage and in the theatre (his Algernon in The Importance of Being Earnest is great), but I really can’t help and wish we’d had him for The Star Beast. If only for that handful more.

That is, of course, unless this is some kind of fake-out a la The Stolen Earth. Our replacement Doctor feels like a JNT moment, like changing the TARDIS in Attack of the Cybermen. Is it a stunt or is it genuinely uncharted territory? Who can say at this stage?

      Thanks Wolfie,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the latest departure of Ncuti Gatwa as the Doctor and Billie Piper coming in. This is one of these occasions where perhaps I should have paid more attention to the rumours, but I didn’t really want to pay heed to them as it was possible they would turn out to be untrue. Now that they’re true, I do feel we haven’t had enough of Ncuti Gatwa to appreciate him as the Fifteenth Doctor. It would have been great to have seen him for a third season.

Of course, we’ll have to find out what happens with Billie Piper and whether she’s the Doctor or not. It does seem like we’re not going to be seeing Ncuti Gatwa for a while due to him being busy in theatre (which I wish him well in). There’s also the possibility he left ‘Doctor Who’ to pursue opportunities in Los Angeles, but I’m not sure how true that is. It’d be nice if Ncuti Gatwa said yes to doing Big Finish audios and I’d welcome listening to them and hear him reunited with Millie Gibson as Ruby and Verada Sethu as Belinda. At this point in time, I’m saddened Ncuti has left ‘Doctor Who’, as I would have liked to have seen him do one more season in the new TV series.

      Best wishes,

      Tim 🙂
