        Hi scifimike,

Yes, I suppose that’s true. Especially when you consider a robot has no feelings and was making its point to Belinda on what would happen if she didn’t come with them. Not with her life being threatened of course, but with threatening other lives, including her landlord’s.

        Best wishes and Many thanks,

        Tim 🙂

Hmm… I think this will be a season I’ll approach on the merit of its individual episodes, methinks…

I don’t like that we’re revisiting the doppelganger angle for both Belinda and Mrs Flood. We tackled this back with Clara and still didn’t make any sense back then, either. The Doctor has encountered duplicates all across Space and Time. We’ve seen them. Why are we seeing this Prisoner of Zenda plot again? Twice over? At the same time?

In the big picture, it feels like Doctor Who is running out of ideas. The Mysterious Woman with a Secret(tm) has been done to death at this point and really hampers our ability to connect to a companion. They’re people, not objects, and there are other ways to make these characters compelling.

I don’t like that the programme seems to be trapped in a Matryoshka doll of Mystery Boxes. Particularly Mystery Boxes we’ve seen before. After the last finale, that doesn’t bode well for the future.

    Colour me wary, going forward…

      Hi Wolfie,

Many thanks for sharing your thoughts about where the new TV series is going at the moment.

Clara! That was a name I forgot to include in my theory list on who Mrs. Flood might be. Maybe I’ll mention Clara’s name in an updated theory list in a future reaction video. We’ll see. I actually thought Belinda lived in the same neighbourhood as Ruby did with Mrs. Flood being her next door neighbour. I didn’t think Mrs. Flood was a duplicate character. Then again, it’s not clear where Belinda’s home is supposed to take place in the episode. At least, not to me. Is it in the same place as where Ruby Sunday and her family lives or is it not? I would have thought it was, considering Millie Gibson is in this season.

I do get a sense that Russell T. Davies is repeating a lot of ideas he introduced his original era in his neo era. I agree, more emphasis needs to be made in exploring the characters as characters rather than as plot devices. RTD and Steven Moffat seem to struggle with that when writing ‘Doctor Who’ episodes, as they focus more on the gimmicky and superficial aspects of the characters rather than the intimate interactions between characters, which I enjoy more.

Going back to Mrs. Flood, when she said ‘goodbye’ to Belinda, you don’t go “Take care, Belinda. Bye, bye” with a wave like that without showing a lot of concern that your next door neighbour is being abducted by robots. Granted, we don’t know who Mrs. Flood is yet, but you don’t give the game away that you’re not exactly a genuine human as it makes you incapable of blending in with your surroundings. This happened in ‘The Legend of Ruby Sunday’ too when she said offkey things whilst looking after Cherry Sunday.

Looking forward to checking out ‘Lux’ tomorrow. And in style! 😀

      Best wishes,

      Tim 🙂
