Hello everyone! 🙂
Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!
In today’s instalment of ‘The Nyssa Challenge’ for this year’s mini-review season from December 2024 to January 2025, it’s time to check out the six-part ‘Doctor Who’ audio adventure ‘The Great Beyond’ by James Kettle. This story stars Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor, Sarah Sutton as Nyssa, Janet Fielding as Tegan and Matthew Waterhouse as Adric. There are also special guest stars like Philip Hurd-Wood, Maggie Service and Andrew Wincott, and is directed by Ken Bentley.
This is the first time that Big Finish have done a proper full-on original six-part adventure in the ‘Doctor Who’ series for the Fifth Doctor era, compared to when they did ‘The Game’ back in 2005 and the audio adaptation of ‘Cold Fusion’ in 2016. ‘The Great Beyond’ is an audio story that tackles themes of dread and the afterlife. And there are robotic drones called the Princesses featured in this story. Did I enjoy checking out ‘The Great Beyond’ as a six-part adventure? Did I find it worthwhile? Was it as epic as I hoped it would be?
Please feel free to check out, read and comment on my latest review on ‘The Great Beyond’ by clicking on the link for it. You can purchase ‘The Great Beyond’ either as a CD box set or as a download from Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.com or the Big Finish website.
Enjoy! 🙂
Stay tuned tomorrow for my updated review on the Big Finish audio story ‘1001 Nights’, starring Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor and Sarah Sutton as Nyssa.
Bye for now!
Tim 🙂
