In today’s instalment of the latest ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season, it’s time for us to check out the first of two 2024 box set audio releases in ‘The Fifth Doctor Adventures’ range of ‘Doctor Who’ by Big Finish. It’s time for ‘The Dream Team’, starring Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor, Sarah Sutton as Nyssa, Janet Fielding as Tegan and Matthew Waterhouse as Adric. This box set contains two stories – a four-part adventure called ‘The Merfolk Murders’ by Tim Foley and a two-part adventure called ‘Dream Team’ by Lizzie Hopley.

‘The Merfolk Murders’ is the only story in ‘The Dream Team’ collection to feature a guest cast, which includes Pearl Appleby (who’s been in an episode of ‘Call the Midwife’), Angus Imrie (who’s been in the 2019 film ‘The Kid Who Would Be King’) and Josie Lawrence. ‘Dream Team’ is a story that only features Peter Davison as the Doctor, Sarah Sutton as Nyssa, Janet Fielding as Tegan and Matthew Waterhouse as Adric, as they have to fight against the Kantrofarri (also known as the Dream Crabs) who have been in the 2014 Christmas Special story ‘Last Christmas’.
