Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’s blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Things have been very busy at my end lately. This includes updating my reviews on Season 2 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series, based on ‘The Collection’ Blu-ray box set that was released in December 2022. I’ve just revisited ‘The Romans’ and I’ll be updating my review on that story soon.

In the meantime, I can give you an update on how ‘The Sunfire Chronicles’, my upcoming mini-series of ‘Doctor Who’ Short Trips, is coming along. I’ve written all the four stories featured in the set and I’ve been updating them with feedback and suggestions provided by fellow friends and collaborators.

This includes Timelord007, WilliamsFan92, Alan Camlaan/Wolfie and AFJ Kernow. I’ve revamped ‘The Race of Endurance’, the third story of the set, and I’m about to recheck ‘Quasar of Sarfenia’, the fourth and final story, now penned by me and Alan Camlaan/Wolfie of the Divergent Wordsmiths. 🙂

 

I’m very pleased that Wolfie has been able to tie in ‘Quasar of Sarfenia’ to their series of Sixth Doctor, Peri and Frobisher stories, including ‘Eden by Annihilation’, ‘Ghosts of Peladon’ and ‘The Alchemists of Fear’. ‘Quasar of Sarfenia’ now acts as an aftermath to what happened in ‘The Alchemists of Fear’.

I’ve updated the ‘Quasar of Sarfenia’ cover by adding Alan Camlaan’s name to the writing credits and a couple of photos of two more guest characters. As well as the Sixth Doctor, Peri, Frobisher, Wulfe the Sontaran and Becceri (who’s played by Grace Kelly), there are also Queen Melbud and Jimrock. 🙂

Queen Melbud of Sarfenia is played by Kim Novak and Jimrock, Becceri’s lover is played by a young John Nettles. Most of these casting suggestions, including Grace Kelly as Becceri and John Nettles as Jimrock, are by Wolfie. Thanks, Wolfie! 🙂 I came up with the casting of Kim Novak as Melbud. 😀

As a reminder, the four ‘Sunfire Chronicles’ stories include ‘The Horns of Wulfe’ with the Fourth Doctor, Private James Darby and Bazoon ‘Bazooie’ the Miggie; ‘Romance and the Cow Creamer’ with the Fifth Doctor, Nyssa and Billy Walker; ‘The Race of Endurance’ with the Fifth Doctor, Nyssa, Tegan Jovanka and Michael Anderson; and ‘Quasar of Sarfenia’ with the Sixth Doctor, Peri Brown and Frobisher. 🙂 Please check out the four covers for the four ‘Sunfire’ stories below.

I’ve also changed the Sunfire jewel to be the Sunfire Gem instead. The editing process has been full of tweaks and updates on every story, but it’s been worthwhile and invigorating. Once I’ve finished rechecking ‘Quasar of Sarfenia’, I’ll be doing a final check on all the four stories of this mini-series.

I know I said I hoped to share the stories in May, June or July in the previous ‘Basement Update’, but it’s very likely the four stories will be shared in August or September instead. Or it could be from August to November instead. Keep watching this space and I’m sure the stories will be coming soon.

All in all, I’m looking forward to sharing ‘The Sunfire Chronicles’ of ‘Doctor Who’ stories on ‘Bradley’s Basement’, as they’ve been exciting and challenging to write. It’s also been great to work on the stories with people like Timelord007, WF92, Wolfie and AFJ Kernow, as their feedback has been very valuable. 🙂

Once again, here are the updated synopses for the four stories in ‘The Sunfire Chronicles’. It won’t be long before they become available on ‘Bradley’s Basement’. It’s very exciting! 🙂

1. ‘THE HORNS OF WULFE’

The Fourth Doctor, Private James and Bazooie meet Becceri, a beautiful gold-haired woman who’s on the run, when they’re visiting the planet Neimor. Can they protect her from a Sontaran headhunter named Wulfe, who has horns on his head? Will they also help her to locate the powerful Sunfire Gem?

2. ‘ROMANCE AND THE COW CREAMER’

A 1920s seaside resort. An ideal holiday resort for Nyssa, Billy and the Fifth Doctor. Unfortunately, they’re swept into a mystery where the woman called Becceri happens to be at their hotel and has stolen a cow creamer from a wealthy couple of aristocrats. Will the Doctor uncover more of this mystery?

3. ‘THE RACE OF ENDURANCE’

Michael Anderson is an experienced motor racing driver. But can he do well in a space pod race? He hopes so with Tegan as his co-driver. Thing go awry, as Becceri has stowed away aboard their space pod. Will the Fifth Doctor and Nyssa save Tegan, Michael and Becceri from Wulfe the Sontaran?

4. ‘QUASAR OF SARFENIA’

The Sixth Doctor, Peri and Frobisher visit the planet Sarfenia, where the tyrant queen Melbud rules. In her chambers, she has a powerful cannon that can obliterate neighbouring worlds. The Doctor is about to uncover why Becceri has been on the run and why Wulfe the Sontaran hunted her.
