Hello everyone! 🙂
Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!
Like the Series 4/2009-2010 Specials of ‘Doctor Who’ with David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor, the Series 13/2022 Specials of the new TV show could arguably be considered Jodie Whittaker’s fourth and final season as the Thirteenth Doctor. They do have the beginning and the ending of a season. 🙂
‘Eve of the Daleks’ is arguably considered the beginning of the story arc where Mandip Gill as Yaz admits she has romantic feelings for the Thirteenth Doctor. Whilst not fully explored as fans would expect, the 2022 Specials do showcase the Thirteenth Doctor and Yaz’s friendship in the TV series. 🙂
‘Legend of the Sea Devils’ touches upon the Thirteenth Doctor and Yaz a bit more, but it’s interesting how Thirteen doesn’t want to commit to a romantic relationship with Yaz. Probably for the best, considering what happens to Thirteen in ‘The Power of the Doctor’, as it leads to her regeneration. 🙂
On reflection, ‘Eve of the Daleks’ and ‘Legend of the Sea Devils’ aren’t considered fantastic as ‘Doctor Who’ specials, though they’re fun to watch. It’s also considered that these three special episodes were meant to be in the main Series 13 before the season became the six-part story ‘Flux’.
‘The Power of the Doctor’ is undeniably the best of the three 2022 Specials in ‘Doctor Who’, especially when featuring past companions like Janet Fielding as Tegan and Sophie Aldred as Ace, as well as Sacha Dhawan as the Master, the Daleks, the Cybermen, and past Doctors from the TV series.
I enjoyed checking out the 2022 Specials of ‘Doctor Who’ with Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor. It’s interesting how they depicted the end of her era with showcasing the Thirteenth Doctor and Yaz’s relationship. It pays off in a satisfying finale for Jodie’s Doctor in ‘The Power of the Doctor’.
Thanks for reading!
Bye for now!
Tim 🙂
