Day 10 – ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar 2022

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s Day 10 of ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar 2022.

It’s time for the Fifth Doctor to meet Monarch in ‘Four to Doomsday’. 🙂

It’s interesting how the Fifth Doctor and Tegan met the Urbankans – Monarch, Enlightenment and Persuasion – aboard their spaceship. The actors playing the three Urbankans must have found it a challenge to be in that frog-like make-up. Stratford Johns certainly had the worse of it as Monarch. 😐

I know Annie Lambert and Paul Shelley were able to get out of their frog make-up, but I could tell Annie Lambert struggled to talk properly through her mask. 😀 I enjoyed how Peter Davison’s Doctor is polite and friendly towards the Urbankans whilst Janet Fielding as Tegan is suspicious about them.

It was unusual for Tegan to draw, using a pencil and pad, what mode of dress she wears when not in her air hostess uniform to the Urbankans. She could have just said she wears clothes like a T-shirt, a jumper, and trousers. Also, who knew Tegan could draw Annie Lambert and Paul Shelley superbly? 😀

It became tense when Sarah Sutton as Nyssa was approached by Philip Locke as Bigon when he came up behind her. Mind you, she could be shocked that Sir Roderick Glossop from the ‘Jeeves & Wooster’ TV series had regenerated from Roger Brierley into Philip Locke. Later in ‘Doctor Who’, Roger Brierley later voiced Drathro!

Hmm. Drathro from ‘The Trial of a Time Lord’ and Bigon from ‘Four to Doomsday’ are both mechanical in ‘Doctor Who’. I wonder if there’s a connection between the two. 😀 I’m glad Matthew Waterhouse as Adric closed the TARDIS doors shut before he went out to look for Nyssa aboard the Urbankans’ ship.

Thanks for watching and reading!

Check out what Day 10 of my ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendars for 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 were about!

Bye for now!

Tim 🙂
