‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Girl Who Waited’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

In today’s instalment of the ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon, it’s time for us to check out the ‘Doctor Who’ TV episode called ‘The Girl Who Waited’ by Tom MacRae. This is Tom MacRae’s second contribution to the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series, since he wrote ‘Rise of the Cybermen’/’The Age of Steel’ in Series 2. In the episode, Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor, Karen Gillan as Amy Pond and Arthur Darvill as Rory Williams visit the planet Apalapucia for a holiday, but they soon find that the planet is under quarantine as there seems to be a deadly plague about. Amy accidentally gets separated from the Doctor and Rory, and soon there are two Amys, including the younger Amy and an older Amy. This episode also features the Handbots, who are likely to kill our heroes, despite them saying that what they’re doing is ‘a kindness’. ‘The Girl Who Waited’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Rise of the Cybermen’/’The Age of Steel’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here we are on the first two-part story in the David Tennant/Tenth Doctor era of ‘Doctor Who’, and it’s the story that features the return of the Cybermen in the new TV series. This is ‘Rise of the Cybermen’/’The Age of Steel’ by Tom MacRae, and it’s a pretty compelling story where I got introduced to the Cybermen in 2006 and found them terrifying on my first watch. 😀 In the story, David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor, Billie Piper as Rose and Noel Clarke as Mickey end up in a parallel universe. There are parallel universe versions of Rose’s parents – Camille Coduri as Jackie, Rose’s mum and Shaun Dingwall as Pete, Rose’s dad. There’s also Roger Lloyd-Pack as John Lumic – the head of Cybus Industries and the creator of the new Cybermen on parallel Earth. 😮 ‘Rise of the Cybermen’/’The Age of Steel’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. ‘Doctor Who’ Marathon – ‘The Girl Who Waited’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

This is a ‘Doctor Who’ episode that’s pretty complicated when you watch it casually on the TV. It features two Amys, including a young Amy and an older Amy who had to wait for years for the Doctor and Rory to find her. Despite the story’s complexity, it does have some very emotional moments. ‘Doctor Who’ Marathon – ‘Rise of the Cybermen’/’The Age of Steel’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

This is what I call the highlight of Series 2 of ‘Doctor Who’. This two-part story by Tom MacRae features the first appearance of the Cybermen in the new series. But these are Cybermen in a parallel universe as the Doctor, Rose and Mickey are about to discover once they tackle the menace of Cybus Industries. Continue reading

Celebrating 55 Years of ‘Doctor Who’ #10

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Let’s celebrate the Tenth Doctor era for the 55th anniversary of ‘Doctor Who’! This is another one of my favourite eras of ‘Doctor Who’ as well as the Peter Davison era. The Russell T. Davies/David Tennant era of ‘Doctor Who’ was a magical period for me and it made me happy as a ‘Doctor Who’ fan overall. Continue reading
