Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

And here we are on the final ‘Doctor Who’ TV adventure starring David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor. This is a two-part story called ‘The End of Time’ by Russell T. Davies, with ‘Part One’ originally shown on Christmas Day in 2009 and ‘Part Two’ originally shown on New Year’s Day in 2010. In this two-parter, David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor reunites with Bernard Cribbins as Wilfred Mott, as they team up to tackle the return of John Simm as the evil Master. This special adventure also features special guest star Timothy Dalton as Rassilon, the Lord President of the Time Lords of Gallifrey. There’s also Catherine Tate as Donna Noble and Jacqueline King as Sylvia Noble. There are special guest stars like June Whitfield as Minnie Hooper, David Harewood as Joshua Naismith, Tracy Ifeacher as Abigail Naismith, Sinéad Keenan as Addams and Lawry Lewin as Rossiter. There are also special guest cameos of Billie Piper as Rose Tyler, Camille Coduri as Jackie Tyler, John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness, Freema Agyeman as Martha Jones, Noel Clarke as Mickey Smith, Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith, Jessica Hynes as Verity Newman, Thomas Knight as Luke Smith and Russell Tovey as Midshipman Alonso Frame in the story. ‘The End of Time’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

We’re on the penultimate story of the David Tennant/Tenth Doctor era of ‘Doctor Who’ and it’s the third of the 2008-2010 Specials in the new TV series. It’s time for ‘The Waters of Mars’ by Russell T. Davies and Phil Ford. This autumn special was shown on the 15th of November 2009. Joining David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor is special guest star Lindsay Duncan as Captain Adelaide Brooke. In the special, the Doctor visits the planet Mars in the year 2059. He ends up at Bowie Base One where the crew led by Adelaide are soon attacked by alien water called the Flood. This is a proper full-on water-zombie adventure that ends on a rather tragic note for David Tennant’s Doctor, who’s on his way for his song to end. The cast also includes Peter O’Brien as Ed Gold, Aleksander Mikic as Yuri Kerenski, Gemma Chan as Mia Bennett, Sharon Duncan Brewster as Maggie Cain, Chook Sibtain as Tarak Ital, Alan Ruscoe as Andy Stone, Cosima Shaw as Steffie Ehrlich and Michael Goldsmith as Roman Groom. Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Let’s check out the second of the 2008-2010 Specials of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series, starring David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor. This is also the first Easter Special ever made in the new TV series. It also serves as the 200th story in ‘Doctor Who’, featuring a London double-decker bus affectionately called the Mighty 200 as well as featuring Tritovores and alien stingrays. 😀 It’s time for ‘Planet of the Dead’ by Russell T. Davies and Gareth Roberts, which was shown on BBC TV on Easter Saturday (11th of April 2009). The special introduces Michelle Ryan as Lady Christina de Souza, who would go on to appear in her own spin-off audio series by Big Finish. There’s also the return of Noma Dumezweni as U.N.I.T. Captain Erisa Magambo and comedian Lee Evans as U.N.I.T. scientific advisor Malcolm Taylor. There’s Adam James as D.I. Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here we are on the last set of ‘Doctor Who’ stories featuring David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor, which are the 2008 to 2010 Specials in the new TV series. Today, we’re starting off on ‘The Next Doctor’, the 2008 Christmas Special by Russell T. Davies. This is a ‘Doctor Who’ Christmas Special that features the return of the Cybermen, who were last seen in ‘Doomsday’, and the story is set in Victorian London in the year 1851. There’s the introduction of David Morrisey (I’ve seen him in 1998’s BBC TV production of ‘Our Mutual Friend’) who claims to be a new incarnation of the Doctor. There are also special guest stars like Dervla Kirwan as the villainous Miss Hartigan and Velile Tshabalala as Rosita, the David Morrisey Doctor’s companion. It’s time for us to check out the two-part season finale of Series 4 of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series, and it’s a big one. 😀 This is ‘The Stolen Earth’/’Journey’s End’ by Russell T. Davies. David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor and Catherine Tate as Donna Noble lead a SUPER MEGA cast, as this two-part adventure features the return of Billie Piper as Rose Tyler, Freema Agyeman as Martha Jones, John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness and Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith. There’s also Noel Clarke as Mickey Smith and Camille Coduri as Jackie Tyler, Rose’s mum. There’s Penelope Wilton as Harriet Jones, Bernard Cribbins as Wilfred Mott, Jacqueline King as Sylvia Noble and Adjoa Andoh as Francine Jones. There’s Eve Myles as Gwen Cooper and Gareth David-Lloyd as Ianto Jones from ‘Torchwood’, and there’s Tommy Knight as Luke Smith and Mr. Smith, voiced by Alexander Armstrong from ‘The Sarah Jane Adventures’. The Daleks also make their return, and they’re led by Julian Bleach who makes his debut as Davros. It’s Bank Holiday Monday in August in the UK in 2023 today. Here we are on the penultimate story of Series 4 of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. It’s time for ‘Turn Left’ by Russell T. Davies. In this ‘Doctor Who’ episode, it’s the turn of Catherine Tate as Donna Noble to be without David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor, as she finds herself living a different life in a parallel universe where she never met the Doctor, forced on her by Chipo Chung as the Fortune Teller. It’s where we have the return of Billie Piper as Rose Tyler (Yes, I know she appeared in ‘Partners In Crime’, ‘The Poison Sky’ and ‘Midnight’, but those were brief cameos). This episode also features Jacqueline King as Sylvia, Donna’s mum and Bernard Cribbins as Wilfred Mott, Donna’s granddad. There’s also the introduction of Noma Dumezweni as U.N.I.T. We come now to what is considered a fan-favourite in the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. Even Janet Fielding who plays Tegan in the classic TV series likes this episode. This is ‘Midnight’, a ‘Doctor Who’ episode by Russell T. Davies. In the episode, David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor is without Catherine Tate as Donna on the planet Midnight, as he takes a shuttle tour to visit a waterfall made of sapphires. There are special guest stars like Lesley Sharp as Sky Silvestry, Rakie Ayola as the Hostess, David Troughton (one of Patrick Troughton’s sons) as Professor Hobbes, Ayesha Antoine as Dee Dee Blasco, Lindsey Coulson as Val Cane, Daniel Ryan as Biff Cane, and Colin Morgan (well-known for playing Merlin in ‘Merlin’) as Jethro Cane. It’s time for us to check out the two-part ‘Doctor Who’ adventure ‘Silence in the Library’/’Forest of the Dead’ by Steven Moffat. In this two-part story, David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor and Catherine Tate as Donna visit a planet-sized library called the Library. 😀 There, they meet Alex Kingston as River Song, who makes her first ‘Doctor Who’ appearance in the new TV series. River happens to know the Doctor whereas the Doctor doesn’t know her yet. She’s part of a team of archaeologists, including Steve Pemberton as Strackman Lux, Talulah Riley as Miss Evangelista, Jessika Williams as Anita, O. T. Fagbenle as Other Dave and Harry Peacock as Proper Dave. My absolute favourite ‘Doctor Who’ story is ‘Black Orchid’. That was the classic TV series’ way of doing a period murder mystery in the 1920s. Today, we’re looking at ‘The Unicorn and the Wasp’ by Gareth Roberts, the new TV series’ way of doing a period murder mystery in the 1920s. David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor and Catherine Tate as Donna Noble meet Fenella Woolgar (who would go on to be in ‘Call the Midwife’) as Agatha Christie at a country house. The episode also features special guest stars like Felicity Kendal (who I’ve seen in ‘The Good Life’) as Lady Eddison, Christopher Benjamin (well-known for playing Henry Gordon Jago in ‘Doctor Who’) as Colonel Hugh, Felicity Jones (who’s been in 2007’s ‘Northanger Abbey’, ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ and ‘Rogue One’) as Robina Redmond, and Tom Goodman-Hill as Reverend Golightly. In today’s ‘Doctor Who’ episode for the 60th Anniversary Marathon, David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor is joined by Catherine Tate as Donna Noble and Freema Agyeman as Martha Jones on an adventure in ‘The Doctor’s Daughter’ by Stephen Greenhorn. On the planet Messaline in the far future, there’s a war fought between the humans and the alien Hath. There’s also the birth of the Doctor’s daughter – Georgia Moffett as Jenny. Georgia Moffett happens to be the real-life daughter of Peter Davison, who plays the Fifth Doctor in ‘Doctor Who’.
