‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Asylum of the Daleks’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

And welcome to Series 7 of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. Here we are on Series 7 – Part 1, starring Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor, Karen Gillan as Amy Pond and Arthur Darvill as Rory Williams. This is what I would like to label as the Pond Season in Series 7 of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. Series 7 – Part 1 depicts the five final adventures of the Eleventh Doctor, Amy and Rory as a TARDIS trio. Will they be a satisfying final set of adventures featuring Eleven, Amy and Rory? We begin the season with ‘Asylum of the Daleks’ by Steven Moffat. This adventure features a variety of Daleks from both the classic TV series and the new TV series versions of ‘Doctor Who’. There’s also the introduction of Jenna-Louise Coleman as Oswin Oswald, whom the Doctor communicates via various intercoms throughout the adventure. Is ‘Asylum of the Daleks’ a satisfying Dalek adventure for me? Did I find it better than ‘Victory of the Daleks’ from Series 5? 😀 ‘Asylum of the Daleks’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. Continue reading

This is the last episode of the Peter Capaldi era and the Steven Moffat era of ‘Doctor Who’. In this episode, which is the 2017 Christmas Special called ‘Twice Upon A Time’, Peter Capaldi’s Doctor meets up with David Bradley as the First Doctor, Pearl Mackie as Bill Potts and Mark Gatiss as the Captain. ‘Doctor Who’ Marathon – ‘Hell Bent’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s the season finale of Series 9 and the last episode of the three-episode story arc in ‘Doctor Who’. It’s time for ‘Hell Bent’ and it features the Doctor’s return back to Gallifrey? But was the Doctor’s return to Gallifrey worthwhile? Did Clara really die? Is Ashildr the so-called hybrid? My review details the confusion I have. 😀 Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ Marathon – ‘Heaven Sent’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Today it’s the second episode of the three-episode finale of Series 9 in ‘Doctor Who’. This is ‘Heaven Sent’ and it’s probably the best episode ever written by Steven Moffat in the entirety of the Peter Capaldi era. Peter Capaldi’s Doctor is now alone without Clara and he has to work out how to get out of a trap he’s in. Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ Marathon – ‘Face The Raven’

Hello everyone! 🙂

This is the beginning of the end for Jenna Coleman as Clara Oswald in ‘Doctor Who’. ‘Face The Raven’ is the first episode of a three-episode story arc to conclude Series 9. Find out what happens as Clara makes a dramatic departure from the series. This episode also features the return of Maisie Williams as Ashildr. Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ Marathon – ‘Sleep No More’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here we come to what I consider to be a low-point in Series 9 of ‘Doctor Who’. This is ‘Sleep No More’ by Mark Gatiss. This is an interesting if unusual experiment of a ‘Doctor Who’ episode based on the concept of found footage. This episode doesn’t work for me to my tastes. My review explains why that is. Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ Marathon – ‘The Zygon Invasion’/’The Zygon Inversion’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time for Zygons today in this two-part ‘Doctor Who’ story. This is ‘The Zygon Invasion’/’The Zygon Inversion’ by Peter Harness and Steven Moffat. It features the return of U.N.I.T., Kate Stewart and Osgood somehow. It also features the best performance of Jenna Coleman as a Zygon leader as well as Clara. Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ Marathon – ‘The Woman Who Lived’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Today it’s time for a follow-up to the ‘Doctor Who’ episode ‘The Girl Who Died’. In this episode, Peter Capadi’s Doctor reunites with Maisie Williams as Ashildr who has become immortal since the Viking days. How has she changed since he last met her? Has she become cold-hearted in the years she’s spent? Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ Marathon – ‘The Girl Who Died’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

This ‘Doctor Who’ episode features the first appearance of Maisie Williams (from ‘Game of Thrones’) as Ashildr. This could’ve been the beginning of a great story arc featuring Ashildr as a ‘Doctor Who’ character with Peter Capald’s Doctor and Jenna Coleman’s Clara. Well…it does starts okay in this episode. Continue reading
