‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Closing Time’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time for us to check out the ‘Doctor Who’ episode called ‘Closing Time’ by Gareth Roberts. This is a sequel to the Series 5 episode called ‘The Lodger’ and it features the return of James Corden as Craig Owens. Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor is without Amy and Rory (though Karen Gillan as Amy and Arthur Darvill as Rory do appear briefly in the episode). Instead, Matt Smith’s Doctor teams up with Craig, as they work together to thwart some Cybermen hiding underneath a department store. And this is while Craig is looking after his baby son called Alfie – or Stormageddon, Dark Lord of All as he likes to be called, according to the Doctor. 😀 This episode also features the return of the Cybermats (well, one of them 😀 ), having last appeared in stories like ‘The Tomb of the Cybermen’, ‘The Wheel In Space’, ‘Revenge of the Cybermen’ and ‘Spare Parts’. There’s also special guest star Lynda Baron (who played Captain Wrack in ‘Enlightenment’) as Val at the department store. ‘Closing Time’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Lodger’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Today, it’s time for us to check out the ‘Doctor Who’ episode from Series 5 of the new TV series called ‘The Lodger’ by Gareth Roberts. This happens to be a TV episode based on a 2006 ‘Doctor Who Magazine’ comic story of the same name by Gareth Roberts, featuring the Tenth Doctor. I must check out more comic stories and perhaps do a comparison between the comic and TV versions of ‘The Lodger’. In the TV version of ‘The Lodger’, Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor becomes stranded on Earth after stepping out of the TARDIS whilst Karen Gillan as Amy Pond is still inside the blue box time machine. The Doctor meets up with James Corden as Craig Owens and ends up becoming his roommate. This is the first time I’ve come across James Corden in TV and film, and this is before James Corden went on to voice Peter Rabbit in the 2018 film and its 2021 sequel. 😀 ‘The Lodger’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Last Friday, I saw the 2011 film adaptation of ‘The Three Musketeers’, directed by Paul W. S. Anderson, which is on Disney+. In 2021, I saw the 1993 film adaptation of ‘The Three Musketeers’, which is also on Disney+. 🙂 I hoped that I would have a pretty fun time checking out the 2011 film. Continue reading

Movie Review – ‘Into the Woods’

SPOILERS ALERT!!!

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

So, this is a musical film that I saw on Disney+ last Friday. Apparently, ‘Into the Woods’ was released at cinemas in December 2014 and is based on the 1986 Broadway musical of the same name. I of course knew nothing about the stage musical and wasn’t aware the film was released in late 2014. 😐 Continue reading

Quick Movie Review – ‘Gulliver’s Travels’ (2010)

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

I must admit, I haven’t read the 1726 novel ‘Gulliver’s Travels’ by Jonathan Swift. I’ve heard things said about the book over the years and I’ve seen an animated film adaptation of the book long ago when I was a kid. Not sure if it was the 1939 American animated film I saw, although I think it was. 🙂 Continue reading

Well, this is my first movie to see at the cinema in 2021! Amazing!

‘Peter Rabbit 2’ is one of the films that was meant to come out in 2020 but got delayed because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Thankfully the film got released at cinemas in May this year and after having had my first Covid vaccine, my parents andI decided to have our first cinema trip and enjoy this film. Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ Marathon – ‘The Lodger’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

This ‘Doctor Who’ episode features the first appearance of James Corden as Craig. This is ‘The Lodger’ by Gareth Roberts where Matt Smith’s Doctor meets Craig. The Doctor becomes Craig’s lodger at his and Sophie’s house. I enjoyed this episode, finding it a refreshing comic relief episode in the TV series. Continue reading

Quick Movie Review – ‘Peter Rabbit’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

I’ve seen a pretty good children’s film for Easter. That is of course, ‘Peter Rabbit’!

‘Peter Rabbit’ is based on the children’s books by Beatrix Potter. There was a Beatrix Potter film called ‘Miss Potter’ starring Renée Zellweger made in 2006. But there had never been a live-action film of ‘Peter Rabbit’. Until now that is. I didn’t expect to enjoy this film when I saw it at the cinema. Continue reading
