Quick Video Review – ‘Dad’s Army | VE Day 80th Anniversary Concert’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

I’m currently in a ‘Dad’s Army’ mood! 😀 Back in May this year, we had the VE Day 80th anniversary celebrations in the UK. One of the celebrations shown on the BBC was a live concert called ‘VE Day 80: A Celebration to Remember’. The King and Queen attended it. 🙂 Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Time of Angels’/’Flesh and Stone’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Let’s check out the first two-part story in Series 5 of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series called ‘The Time of Angels’/’Flesh and Stone’ by Steven Moffat, starring Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor and Karen Gillan as Amy Pond. This ‘Doctor Who’ adventure features the return of Alex Kingston as River Song, who was last seen in the Series 4 two-parter ‘Silence in the Library’/’Forest of the Dead’. There’s also the return of the Weeping Angels, who made their first appearance on TV in the Series 3 episode called ‘Blink’. There’s also Iain Glen (who I’ve seen in the 1999 BBC TV production of ‘Wives & Daughters’) as Father Octavian. Is this, for me, another exciting and thrilling ‘Doctor Who’ adventure featuring the Weeping Angels, or do I think ‘Blink’ is better than this two-part story? ‘The Time of Angels’/’Flesh and Stone’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. It’s time to talk about the first Christmas Special of ‘Downton Abbey’, which was transmitted on ITV1 on the 25th of December 2011 between Series 2 and 3. I enjoyed this Christmas Special and whilst there’s an ongoing storyline I’m concerned about, I’m glad the special does end on a happier note. 🙂 Continue reading

I’ve found out that the upcoming ‘Downton Abbey 2’ movie scheduled for December 2021 has been rescheduled for March 2022. I’m saddened by this as I was looking forward to seeing ‘Downton Abbey 2’ at around Christmas time this year. But at least I have more of the TV series to check out. 🙂 Continue reading

Quick Movie Review – ‘Black Beauty’ (2020)

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

My parents and I saw the 2020 film ‘Black Beauty’ on Disney+ last Friday. I greatly enjoyed it! I found how this turned out to be a satisfying modern take on the 1877 novel of the same name by Anna Sewell. It kept to what I knew of ‘Black Beauty’ as a story whilst doing something very unique with it. Continue reading
