‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The End of Time’

And here we are on the final ‘Doctor Who’ TV adventure starring David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor. This is a two-part story called ‘The End of Time’ by Russell T. Davies, with ‘Part One’ originally shown on Christmas Day in 2009 and ‘Part Two’ originally shown on New Year’s Day in 2010. In this two-parter, David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor reunites with Bernard Cribbins as Wilfred Mott, as they team up to tackle the return of John Simm as the evil Master. This special adventure also features special guest star Timothy Dalton as Rassilon, the Lord President of the Time Lords of Gallifrey. There’s also Catherine Tate as Donna Noble and Jacqueline King as Sylvia Noble. There are special guest stars like June Whitfield as Minnie Hooper, David Harewood as Joshua Naismith, Tracy Ifeacher as Abigail Naismith, Sinéad Keenan as Addams and Lawry Lewin as Rossiter. There are also special guest cameos of Billie Piper as Rose Tyler, Camille Coduri as Jackie Tyler, John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness, Freema Agyeman as Martha Jones, Noel Clarke as Mickey Smith, Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith, Jessica Hynes as Verity Newman, Thomas Knight as Luke Smith and Russell Tovey as Midshipman Alonso Frame in the story. ‘The End of Time’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Silence in the Library’/’Forest of the Dead’

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time for us to check out the two-part ‘Doctor Who’ adventure ‘Silence in the Library’/’Forest of the Dead’ by Steven Moffat. In this two-part story, David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor and Catherine Tate as Donna visit a planet-sized library called the Library. 😀 There, they meet Alex Kingston as River Song, who makes her first ‘Doctor Who’ appearance in the new TV series. River happens to know the Doctor whereas the Doctor doesn’t know her yet. She’s part of a team of archaeologists, including Steve Pemberton as Strackman Lux, Talulah Riley as Miss Evangelista, Jessika Williams as Anita, O. T. Fagbenle as Other Dave and Harry Peacock as Proper Dave. ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Runaway Bride’

It’s time to check out the second ‘Doctor Who’ Christmas Special in the new TV series that was shown on BBC TV in December 2006. This is ‘The Runaway Bride’ by Russell T. Davies, starring David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor. In this Christmas Special, the Doctor is joined by Catherine Tate as Donna Noble, who mysteriously appears in the TARDIS and is wearing a wedding dress. 😀 The Doctor must help Donna solve the mystery of why she ended up in the TARDIS and not at her wedding. This leads them to a mysterious and abandoned Torchwood base under the river Thames in London, where they find themselves up against the spider-like Empress of Racnoss, played by Sarah Parish. The special also features Don Gilét as Lance Bennett, Donna’s fiancé; Jacqueline King as Sylvia Noble, Donna’s mum; and the late Howard Attfield as Geoff Noble, Donna’s dad. It’s time for us to check out the penultimate story in Series 2 of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series, starring David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor and Billie Piper as Rose. This is ‘Fear Her’ by Matthew Graham. In the episode, the Tenth Doctor and Rose visit Dame Kelly Holmes Close in London in the year 2012. The 2012 Olympics are about to take place. Goodness me! The 2012 Olympics. That feels such a lifetime ago. 😀 But their trip to the Olympics is disrupted when they discover that children have gone missing in the local area. It all ties to a little girl named Chloe, who has the ability to draw people and trap them in her drawings. Will the Doctor and Rose be able to solve the mystery as to what’s going on with these disappearances and how the little girl has the ability to trap people in her drawings? ‘Fear Her’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Idiot’s Lantern’

Earlier this year, we had King Charles III’s coronation in May 2023. Today, we’re looking at a ‘Doctor Who’ episode that takes place during Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation in June 1953. This is ‘The Idiot’s Lantern’ by Mark Gatiss. In the episode, David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor and Billie Piper as Rose visit 1953 North London. They discover something awry when every house seems to have a television antenna in time for people to watch the upcoming coronation. The television antennas are provided by Ron Cook (who played Parker in the 2004 ‘Thunderbirds’ film) as Mr. Magpie of Magpie Electricals. He’s being controlled by the evil Wire, played by Maureen Lipman, who’s always HUNGRY!!! 😀 Will our heroes uncover the mystery? Will the Tenth Doctor have to cope alone when Rose is out of action? ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Girl In The Fireplace’

It’s time for another Steven Moffat-penned ‘Doctor Who’ episode in the new TV series called ‘The Girl In The Fireplace’. In this episode from Series 2, we have David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor and Billie Piper as Rose joined by Noel Clarke as Mickey as a travelling companion in the TARDIS. They visit a spaceship in the 51st century, where the Doctor discovers time windows leading into 18th century Paris. They revolve around the life of Madame de Pompadour, played by Sophia Myles (who played Lady Penelope in the 2004 ‘Thunderbirds’ movie 😀 ). The Doctor must save Madame de Pompadour from the menace of the Clockwork Droids who have come to collect her. It’s time for us to check out the third episode in the David Tennant/Tenth Doctor era of ‘Doctor Who’ called ‘Tooth and Claw’ by Russell T. Davies. In this episode from Series 2 of the new TV series, we go into gothic horror territory, as the David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor and Billie Piper as Rose visit Scotland in the year 1879. There, they meet Pauline Collins as Queen Victoria, who’s on her way to visit the Torchwood Estate in Scotland. But at Torchwood House, things aren’t what they seem, as a group of warrior Monks, led by Ian Hanmore as Father Angelo, have taken over the place and they unleash a vicious werewolf to get at her Majesty. Here we are on the third episode of the Christopher Eccleston/Ninth Doctor era of ‘Doctor Who’ called ‘The Unquiet Dead’. And it happens to be the first ‘Doctor Who’ TV episode by Mark Gatiss. 😀 Starring Christopher Eccleston as the Ninth Doctor and Billie Piper as Rose, this ‘Doctor Who’ episode takes us back to Earth’s past where we visit Cardiff in Victorian times. There are ghosts running amok in Cardiff on Christmas Eve in 1869. The Doctor and Rose must solve the ghost mystery with help from author Charles Dickens.
