‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Silence in the Library’/’Forest of the Dead’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time for us to check out the two-part ‘Doctor Who’ adventure ‘Silence in the Library’/’Forest of the Dead’ by Steven Moffat. In this two-part story, David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor and Catherine Tate as Donna visit a planet-sized library called the Library. 😀 There, they meet Alex Kingston as River Song, who makes her first ‘Doctor Who’ appearance in the new TV series. River happens to know the Doctor whereas the Doctor doesn’t know her yet. She’s part of a team of archaeologists, including Steve Pemberton as Strackman Lux, Talulah Riley as Miss Evangelista, Jessika Williams as Anita, O. T. Fagbenle as Other Dave and Harry Peacock as Proper Dave. The Doctor, Donna, River and the others have to survive, since the shadows in the Library contain the vicious alien Vashta Nerada. ‘Silence in the Library’/’Forest of the Dead’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. Power Month (Day 25) – ‘The Rockstar’ (MMPR)

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’s blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time to check out ‘The Rockstar’, another episode in the ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ series for today’s instalment of ‘Power Month’ this year. The Rockstar of course happens to be a monster. Surprisingly, the focus of the episode isn’t about the Rockstar. The focus happens to be about Rita Repulsa and her minions getting the Mirror of Destruction on Earth. Jason/the Red Ranger spends some time with his cousin Jeremy before he soon joins the Rangers in the fight to destroy the Mirror of Destruction in their Dino Megazord. Incidentally, this episode doesn’t feature Tommy in it. 😐 Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Unicorn and the Wasp’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

My absolute favourite ‘Doctor Who’ story is ‘Black Orchid’. That was the classic TV series’ way of doing a period murder mystery in the 1920s. Today, we’re looking at ‘The Unicorn and the Wasp’ by Gareth Roberts, the new TV series’ way of doing a period murder mystery in the 1920s. David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor and Catherine Tate as Donna Noble meet Fenella Woolgar (who would go on to be in ‘Call the Midwife’) as Agatha Christie at a country house. The episode also features special guest stars like Felicity Kendal (who I’ve seen in ‘The Good Life’) as Lady Eddison, Christopher Benjamin (well-known for playing Henry Gordon Jago in ‘Doctor Who’) as Colonel Hugh, Felicity Jones (who’s been in 2007’s ‘Northanger Abbey’, ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ and ‘Rogue One’) as Robina Redmond, and Tom Goodman-Hill as Reverend Golightly. Do I think that ‘The Unicorn and the Wasp’ is better than ‘Black Orchid’ or vice versa? ‘The Unicorn and the Wasp’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. Continue reading

Power Month (Day 24) – ‘Island of Illusion’ (MMPR)

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’s blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here we are with a two-part story in today’s instalment of ‘Power Month’, focusing on mostly Season 1 of ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’. It’s time for ‘Island of Illusion’. In this two-part story, the six Ranger teens find themselves fighting in their Zords against two new giant monsters. But the Rangers soon get sent by Rita Repulsa to the Island of Illusion, where they have to confront their worst fears. This includes past monsters from previous episodes as well as fears like snakes, overcoming fear of heights again, and Bulk and Skull being nice (?!). Will Quagmire help the Rangers? ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Doctor’s Daughter’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

In today’s ‘Doctor Who’ episode for the 60th Anniversary Marathon, David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor is joined by Catherine Tate as Donna Noble and Freema Agyeman as Martha Jones on an adventure in ‘The Doctor’s Daughter’ by Stephen Greenhorn. On the planet Messaline in the far future, there’s a war fought between the humans and the alien Hath. There’s also the birth of the Doctor’s daughter – Georgia Moffett as Jenny. Georgia Moffett happens to be the real-life daughter of Peter Davison, who plays the Fifth Doctor in ‘Doctor Who’. She’s now Georgia Tennant, as she’s married to David Tennant, who plays the Tenth Doctor in ‘Doctor Who’. ‘The Doctor’s Daughter’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. Continue reading

Power Month (Day 23) – ‘Wheel of Misfortune’ (MMPR)

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’s blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time to check out a ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ episode in ‘Power Month’ that I think could have been handled better if it went in a different direction. It starts with Kimberley and her friends performing a school production of ‘Rumpelstiltskin’, which Bulk and Skull manage to mess up, especially with Bulk damaging Kimberley’s grandmother’s spinning wheel. Rita Repulsa then has her minions steal the spinning wheel and it becomes the evil ‘wheel of misfortune’. Can the Power Rangers thwart Rita’s latest evil scheme, especially when they fight Goldar and Scorpina as giants? Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Sontaran Stratagem’/’The Poison Sky’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time to check out the first two-part story in Series 4 of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. This is ‘The Sontaran Stratagem’/’The Poison Sky’ by Helen Raynor, starring David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor and Catherine Tate as Donna. This two-parter also features the return of Freema Agyeman as Martha, who now works for U.N.I.T. There’s also the return of the potato-headed Sontarans in the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series, including Christopher Ryan as General Staal and Dan Starkey as Commander Skorr. This story also features Jacqueline King as Sylvia, Donna’s mum and Bernard Cribbins as Wilfred, Donna’s granddad. Power Month (Day 22) – ‘Gung-Ho!’ (MMPR)

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’s blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Today in this year’s ‘Power Month’, we take a look at a ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ episode where Jason the Red Ranger and Tommy the Green Ranger have to work together, both in the Team Ninja Finals at Angel Grove, and when they’re having to collect new weapons being guarded by a new giant Zord called Titanus. Meanwhile, the other Rangers – Zack, Billy, Kimberly and Trini – have to fight off Rita Repulsa’s new Super Putty Patrollers. Also, Jason gets to wear Tommy’s shield as the Red Ranger whilst Tommy uses his Dragon Dagger and Jason’s Power Sword as the Green Ranger. Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Planet of the Ood’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here’s another one of my favourite episodes in Series 4 of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. It’s time to check out ‘Planet of the Ood’ by Keith Temple, starring David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor and Catherine Tate as Donna Noble. This episode of course features the return of the Ood, voiced by Silas Carson, who appeared in ‘The Impossible Planet’/’The Satan Pit’ in Series 2. In ‘Planet of the Ood’, the Doctor and Donna must uncover the mystery that’s happening on the Ood-Sphere in the 42nd century, since ‘the circle must be broken’ for the Ood to sing. There are special guest stars like Tim McInnerny (who’s been in ‘Blackadder’, the ‘101 Dalmatians’ live-action films and ‘Johnny English Reborn’ as well as the ‘Doctor Who’ audio adaptation of ‘The Well-Mannered War’) as Mr. Halpen in the episode. There’s also Ayesha Dharker as Solana Mercurio and Adrian Rawlins as Dr. Ryder. ‘Planet of the Ood’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. Continue reading

Power Month (Day 21) – ‘Life’s A Masquerade’ (MMPR)

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’s blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time to go fancy dress in this ‘Power Rangers’ episode for today’s ‘Power Month’ on ‘Bradley’s Basement’. In this episode, the Ranger teens dress up as different characters when attending a costume party at the Angel Grove Youth Center. Alpha also turns up at the party to hang out with his friends. 😀 And of course, Rita Repulsa causes trouble when she sends in a new monster that happens to be Frankenstein. Yes! The monster for this ‘Power Rangers’ episode happens to be Frankenstein! Isn’t that crazy or what? 😀 Will the Rangers stop Frankenstein crashing the party? Continue reading
