–UPDATED REVIEW ON AUDIO CD AND VINYL TODAY–

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s New Year’s Eve today! I’m sharing the penultimate instalment of my latest ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season on ‘Bradley’s Basement’. Today, it’s time to revisit the ‘Doctor Who’ audio story ‘1963: Fanfare For The Common Men’, which I’ve recently listened to on my brand-new vinyl recorder player. I greatly enjoyed revisiting ‘Fanfare’ on vinyl. I must admit, I enjoyed it more than revisiting ‘Spare Parts’ on vinyl lately. 😮 I know ‘Spare Parts’ is highly regarded as a Big Finish audio story, especially with it featuring the Cybermen in it. However, I found ‘Fanfare’ more enjoyable, especially with it being set in the 1960s and having a Beatles-like atmosphere to it as well as starring Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor and Sarah Sutton as Nyssa.

Like when I revisited ‘Spare Parts’ on vinyl, I’ve updated my review of ‘1963: Fanfare For The Common Men’ with some cosmetic changes made to it as well as adding an extra paragraph to the review that reflects my current thoughts on the story. As well as Peter Davison and Sarah Sutton, this story features special guest stars Mitch Benn as Mark Carville, Andrew Knott as James O’Meara, David Dobson as Korky Goldsmith and Ryan Sampson (who was in ‘The Sontaran Stratagem’/’The Poison Sky’) as Lenny Kruger. The story is directed by Barnaby Edwards, who you might know for being one of the Dalek operators in the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. I’m pleased I got to revisit ‘Fanfare’ recently, especially in preparation for when I get to do my in-depth review on ‘The Devil’s Chord’, which is also set in the 1960s and has the Beatles in them.

Please feel free to check out, read and comment on my latest updated review on ‘1963: Fanfare For The Common Men’ by clicking on the link for it. You can purchase ‘1963: Fanfare For The Common Men’ either as a CD from Amazon.co.uk or Amazon.com, or as a download via the Big Finish website.

Enjoy! 🙂

Stay tuned tomorrow for my final ‘Nyssa Challenge’ review, which is a brand-new review on the BBC Children’s Books adventure ‘Doctor Who in Wonderland’ by Paul Magrs, featuring the Fifth Doctor, Nyssa, Tegan and Turlough.

Bye for now!

Tim 🙂
