Hello everyone! 🙂
Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!
It’s time for us to delve into the Target novelization/audiobook of the ‘Doctor Who’ story ‘Vengeance on Varos’ by Philip Martin, based on the original TV scripts. The Target novelization was published in June 1988, three years after the TV story was transmitted in January 1985. The story features the Sixth Doctor and Peri where they visit Varos and encounter the slimy Sil. I’ve greatly enjoyed checking out the Target novelization, along with the 2019 unabridged audiobook read by Martin Jarvis, who played the Governor in the TV story. Over the years, I’ve considered ‘Vengeance on Varos’ a decent ‘Doctor Who’ story featuring themes of how violence can used as entertainment for TV audiences.
Has my opinion changed on the story from checking out the Target novelization/audiobook? Will Philip Martin’s writing in prose form enlighten me more in terms of how ‘Vengeance on Varos’ is handled as a ‘Doctor Who’ story? Is there something from Martin Jarvis’ reading of the story for me to enjoy a lot? My latest novelization/audiobook review on the story has been added to my TV review of ‘Vengeance on Varos’. Please feel free to check out, read and comment on my review by clicking on the link for it. You can purchase the Target novelization/audiobook of ‘Doctor Who – Vengeance on Varos’ either from Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.com or Audible.co.uk.
Enjoy!
Bye for now!
Tim. 🙂
