Convention Report – ‘Collectormania Milton Keynes 2025’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time to talk about my latest convention experience, which was the ‘Collectormania Milton Keynes 2025’ event run by Showmasters Events. I had a great time attending this event, especially as I got to see stars from ‘Doctor Who’ and ‘Star Trek’ in Milton Keynes.

This was a three-day event from Friday the 30th of May to Sunday the 1st of June, but I attended Saturday the 31st of May only, as there were more stars for me to see that day. My best friend from school, Stephen, joined me for the weekend. He enjoyed himself too. 🙂

We arrived on Friday and went home on Sunday. It was a full-on Saturday for us. As well as attending ‘Collectormania Milton Keynes’, we also went to see the two-part finale of Series 15 of ‘Doctor Who’ –  ‘Wish World’/’The Reality War’ – at Cineworld after the event.

I attended ‘Collectormania 22’ in Milton Keynes back in November 2014 where Sarah Sutton (Nyssa in ‘Doctor Who’) was a guest. That 2014 event was held at stadium: mk. For this ‘Collectormania Milton Keynes’ event, it was held at Middleton Hall at centre: mk.

It was quite a different experience to have the event held in centre: mk compared to stadium: mk, as it was a shopping centre and you have plenty of options for lunch, including McDonalds, Greggs and Costa. Stephen and I had lunch from McDonalds. 🙂

Let me share with you what the highlights of ‘Collectormania Milton Keynes 2025’ were for me. Mainly, the purpose of this event for me was to see Millie Gibson, who plays Ruby Sunday in ‘Doctor Who’. She previously attended ‘London Comic Con Winter’ back in November 2024.

I was pleased that Millie had been announced as a guest for both ‘Collectormania Milton Keynes’ and the upcoming ‘Film & Comic Con Cardiff’ in October this year. I did wonder if she would recall me from the last time I saw her at 2024’s ‘London Comic Con Winter’. 🙂

To my delight and surprise, Millie did remember me and seemed very pleased to see me. I suppose seeing her for two days at 2024’s ‘London Comic Con Winter’ helped. 😀 I introduced myself properly this time, as I didn’t get to tell her my name last time I saw her.

I had a lovely chat with Millie. She signed my Blu-ray box set cover of Series 14 of ‘Doctor Who’ with my name on it, which I’m very pleased about. That didn’t happen last time for 2024’s ‘London Comic Con Winter’ when she signed my CD cover of ‘Ruby Red’ and my Blu-ray cover for ‘The Church on Ruby Road’.

I shared with Millie that I was going to see the Series 15 two-part finale of ‘Doctor Who’ at the cinema later, which she was very pleased about. I also gave Millie a gift and card for her birthday in June, which she was thrilled by. She told me that I’m ‘very sweet’. 🙂

I purchased a diamond pass for Millie, which meant I was able to get my autograph and photoshoot ahead of the queue. Thankfully, ‘Collectormania Milton Keynes’ wasn’t as busy compared to ‘London Comic Con Winter’ in November 2024, which was so chaotic.

I had three photo shoots with Millie. One where we stood outside the TARDIS, one where it was just us against a blue backdrop and one where we stood in front of a greenscreen that was replaced by a TARDIS scene from ‘The Church on Ruby Road’, which was so nice.

My diamond pass for Millie also included a large photo of her as Ruby Sunday from ‘Wish World’ as a free gift. I had to purchase a protective cover to make sure it didn’t get damaged. I took the photo back to my Premier Inn hotel room so that it could be kept safe.

I also saw Colin Baker, who plays the Sixth Doctor in ‘Doctor Who’ and had a photo with him on the day. Colin signed my DVD cover of ‘The Mark of the Rani’. We talked about the story and how much he enjoyed it. We also chatted the Rani’s return in the new TV series.

Marina Sirtis, who plays Deanna Troi in ‘Star Trek’, was also at the event. It was nice to see her again, having met her previously at an event in Birmingham in September 2022. I had a nice photo with Marina. She also signed my DVD cover of Season 3 of ‘Star Trek: Picard’.

I also got to see Susan Twist, who plays Susan Triad in ‘Doctor Who’. She was very friendly and chatty when I saw her at the ‘Collectormania’ event. We chatted about her being in the TV series, she signed my Blu-ray box set cover of Series 14, and I had a photo with her.

There were plenty of LEGO displays at the ‘Collectormania’ event, including one of Darth Vader and Kylo Ren from ‘Star Wars’ as well as Harry and Hermione from ‘Harry Potter’. There was a superb display of Woody and Buzz Lightyear from ‘Toy Story’ at the event. 😀

I had my photos with Woody and Buzz whilst at ‘Collectormania’. 🙂 The Batmobile from the 1989 ‘Batman’ film was also present at the event. I took some photos of the Batmobile and it looks very impressive. A shame we couldn’t sit in the car. That would’ve been great.

Whilst attending the event, my best friend Stephen helped with recording a video of me as one of the introductions for my ‘Quick Reactions’ video for ‘The Reality War’. We later recorded another video at Cineworld before we saw the ‘Doctor Who’ Series 15 two-part finale. 🙂

At the event, I purchased a ‘Doctor Who’ mini mystery bag containing three items. These items were a Eaglemoss figurine of the Toymaker, as played by Michael Gough in ‘The Celestial Toymaker’, the magazine to go with it, and a box full of Matt Smith-era postcards.

Here’s a video of me ‘unboxing the mini mystery bag! 🙂

Stephen sent me some photos he took of ‘Collectormania Milton Keynes 2025’, including pics of the Batmobile, the guest signing areas, game consoles like Gameboy and Sega Megadrive. Thank you so much Stephen for sending those pictures my way for my convention report. 🙂

Before going to the cinema to see ‘Wish World’/’The Reality War’ on the big screen, I’m very pleased I saw Millie for the greenscreen photoshoot to end the day. I thanked her for today and wished her a Happy Birthday in June. She was very happy when saying goodbye.

‘Collectormania Milton Keynes 2025’ has been a very enjoyable convention for me and my best friend Stephen. I’m pleased I attended this convention before seeing the two-part finale of Series 15 of ‘Doctor Who’ at the cinema, as it enhanced the viewing experience.

I’m also very pleased I saw Millie Gibson and that she remembered me from London in November 2024. I’m glad I had a lovely chat with her. I’m looking forward to when I see her again in ‘Film & Comic Con Cardiff’ in October, since she comes across as a nice person.

My next convention is the ‘Bury Comic Con’ at the end of June where I’ll be seeing Peter Davison, Sarah Sutton and Janet Fielding as guests. Looking forward to it!

Thanks for reading!

Bye for now!

Tim 🙂
