Hello everyone! 🙂
Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!
And here we are on the sixth and final story of Season 15 in the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. It’s time for an updated review on the six-part season finale ‘The Invasion of Time’ by David Agnew. The review was done by me and Timelord007 back in 2017. Today, we’re sharing our updated thoughts on the story, which sees Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor returning to Gallifrey, along with Louise Jameson as Leela and K-9, voiced by John Leeson. The guest cast includes John Arnatt as Chancellor Borusa, Milton Johns as Castellan Kelner, Chris Tranchell as Andred and Hilray Ryan as Rodan. The story also features the mysterious Vardans, and the war-like Sontarans, led by Derek Deadman as Commander Stor. This story also features the departure of Leela and K-9 Mark I.
Once again, it’s been great to revisit ‘The Invasion of Time’ on Blu-ray, especially through the CGI effects option that’s been transferred from the 2-disc DVD set released in 2008 to Disc 6 of the Season 15 Blu-ray box set. I’ve enjoyed the ‘Behind the Sofa’ item, featuring Louise Jameson, fan and critic Toby Hadoke, Betsan Roberts (the wife of the late director Pennant Roberts), Colin Baker, Sarah Sutton, Janet Fielding, Katy Manning and Matthew Waterhouse. It’s been good to see the ‘Out of Time’ making-of documentary transferred from the DVD set to the Season 15 Blu-ray box set. And it’s been good to see the documentary ‘Darkness & Light: The Life of Graham Williams’ on Disc 7 of the Season 15 Blu-ray box set.
Please feel free to check out, read and comment on the updated review for ‘The Invasion of Time’ by me and Timelord007 by clicking on the link for it. This contains a review on the TV story. There’s also a brand-new review on the Target novelization/audiobook ‘Doctor Who and the Invasion of Time’ by Terrance Dicks, read by John Leeson.
You can purchase ‘Doctor Who – The Collection – Season 15’ on Blu-ray either from Amazon.co.uk or Amazon.com.
Enjoy!
Bye for now!
Tim. 🙂
