‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Fear Her’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time for us to check out the penultimate story in Series 2 of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series, starring David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor and Billie Piper as Rose. This is ‘Fear Her’ by Matthew Graham. In the episode, the Tenth Doctor and Rose visit Dame Kelly Holmes Close in London in the year 2012. The 2012 Olympics are about to take place. Goodness me! The 2012 Olympics. That feels such a lifetime ago. 😀 But their trip to the Olympics is disrupted when they discover that children have gone missing in the local area. It all ties to a little girl named Chloe, who has the ability to draw people and trap them in her drawings. Will the Doctor and Rose be able to solve the mystery as to what’s going on with these disappearances and how the little girl has the ability to trap people in her drawings? ‘Fear Her’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Love & Monsters’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

For occasions like this, people would say “Be afraid! Be very afraid!” However, I’m going to say, “Be brave! Be very brave!” 😀 It’s time to check out what is argued to be one of the worst ‘Doctor Who’ episodes ever made in the new TV series called ‘Love & Monsters’ by Russell T. Davies. David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor and Billie Piper as Rose don’t appear much in this episode. The episode is led by Marc Warren (before he became a very good villain in Series 2 of ‘The Musketeers’) as Elton Pope, a man obsessed with the Doctor, who forms a group with other Doctor-obsessed seekers called L.I.N.D.A. This episode also features Peter Kay as Victor Kennedy a.k.a. the Abzorbaloff, a monster that was designed by ‘Blue Peter’ winner William Grantham. Do I agree with most opinions about this episode? Do I think this is the worst ‘Doctor Who’ episode ever made? Or do I have a soft spot for it? 😀 ‘Love & Monsters’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. Continue reading

Power Month (Day 2) – ‘High Five’ (MMPR)

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’s blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

‘Power Month’ continues, as we look at the second episode of Season 1 of ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’. It’s time for ‘High Five’, an episode where Trini, the Yellow Ranger, has to overcome her fear of heights. I first saw this episode, along with ‘Day of the Dumpster’, on a VHS my best mate Stephen lent me. Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Impossible Planet’/’The Satan Pit’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here’s another two-part adventure in the David Tennant/Tenth Doctor era of ‘Doctor Who’. It’s time for ‘The Impossible Planet’/’The Satan Pit’ by Matt Jones. In this ‘Doctor Who’ adventure, David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor and Billie Piper as Rose visit a planet where there is a sanctuary base and the planet happens to be close to a stable black hole in space. We’re introduced to the spaghetti-like Ood ( 😀 ), voiced by Silas Carlson, and there’s the sanctuary base crew, including Shaun Parkes as Zachary, Danny Webb as Mr. Jefferson, Claire Rushbrook as Ida, Will Thorp as Toby, Ronny Jhutti as Danny and MyAnna Buring as Scooti. Will the Tenth Doctor, Rose and their new friends survive the threat of the demonic Beast, voiced by Gabriel Woolf (who played Sutekh in ‘Pyramids of Mars’) whilst the sanctuary base is under siege by possessed Ood? ‘The Impossible Planet’/’The Satan Pit’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. Power Month (Day 1) – ‘Day of the Dumpster’ (MMPR)

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’s blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

And welcome to ‘Power Month’! 🙂 As I’m celebrating the 60th anniversary of ‘Doctor Who’ with my 60th Anniversary Marathon on my blog, I’ve also decided to celebrate the 30th anniversary of ‘Power Rangers’, by sharing my reviews on ‘Power Rangers’ episodes every day for the month of August. I’m hoping to do a ‘Power Month’ review season every year for one month in August as opposed to two months. For now, let’s check out the first episode of Season 1 of ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ called ‘Day of the Dumpster’. Let’s see how this pretty energetic children’s superhero TV series began. 🙂 Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Idiot’s Lantern’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Earlier this year, we had King Charles III’s coronation in May 2023. Today, we’re looking at a ‘Doctor Who’ episode that takes place during Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation in June 1953. This is ‘The Idiot’s Lantern’ by Mark Gatiss. In the episode, David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor and Billie Piper as Rose visit 1953 North London. They discover something awry when every house seems to have a television antenna in time for people to watch the upcoming coronation. The television antennas are provided by Ron Cook (who played Parker in the 2004 ‘Thunderbirds’ film) as Mr. Magpie of Magpie Electricals. He’s being controlled by the evil Wire, played by Maureen Lipman, who’s always HUNGRY!!! 😀 Will our heroes uncover the mystery? Will the Tenth Doctor have to cope alone when Rose is out of action? Will he receive help from a well-meaning lad? ‘The Idiot’s Lantern’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. Continue reading
