‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Planet of the Ood’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here’s another one of my favourite episodes in Series 4 of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. It’s time to check out ‘Planet of the Ood’ by Keith Temple, starring David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor and Catherine Tate as Donna Noble. This episode of course features the return of the Ood, voiced by Silas Carson, who appeared in ‘The Impossible Planet’/’The Satan Pit’ in Series 2. In ‘Planet of the Ood’, the Doctor and Donna must uncover the mystery that’s happening on the Ood-Sphere in the 42nd century, since ‘the circle must be broken’ for the Ood to sing. There are special guest stars like Tim McInnerny (who’s been in ‘Blackadder’, the ‘101 Dalmatians’ live-action films and ‘Johnny English Reborn’ as well as the ‘Doctor Who’ audio adaptation of ‘The Well-Mannered War’) as Mr. Halpen in the episode. There’s also Ayesha Dharker as Solana Mercurio and Adrian Rawlins as Dr. Ryder. ‘Planet of the Ood’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. Continue reading

Power Month (Day 21) – ‘Life’s A Masquerade’ (MMPR)

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’s blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time to go fancy dress in this ‘Power Rangers’ episode for today’s ‘Power Month’ on ‘Bradley’s Basement’. In this episode, the Ranger teens dress up as different characters when attending a costume party at the Angel Grove Youth Center. Alpha also turns up at the party to hang out with his friends. 😀 And of course, Rita Repulsa causes trouble when she sends in a new monster that happens to be Frankenstein. Yes! The monster for this ‘Power Rangers’ episode happens to be Frankenstein! Isn’t that crazy or what? 😀 Will the Rangers stop Frankenstein crashing the party? Continue reading

Basement News – August 2023

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

I’ve shared a ‘Basement News’ blog post in the space of two months this year. Today however, I’m sharing a ‘Basement News’ blog post sooner than expected. This is because I’m going to be away most of the time in September due to attending conventions and going on holiday. I’ll share more on that as I get into sharing what’s been happening lately and what will happen on my blog for the rest of August and beyond. 🙂 Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Fires of Pompeii’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

We come to one of the best pseudo-historical adventures in the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series in Series 4, starring David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor and Catherine Tate as Donna. It’s time for ‘The Fires of Pompeii’ by James Moran. This is an episode where the Doctor and Donna travel back in time to the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in Pompeii in 79 AD. This episode features guest stars who would become prominent in ‘Doctor Who’s history like Peter Capaldi (who would go on to play the Twelfth Doctor) as Caecilius and Karen Gillan (who would go on to play Amy Pond) as a Soothsayer. There’s also Tracey Childs (who has played Elizabeth Klein in the Big Finish audios with Sylvester McCoy’s Seventh Doctor) as Metella, Caecilius’ wife, and there’s Phil Davis (who I’ve seen in the BBC’s 2005 TV production of ‘Bleak House’) as Lucius. ‘The Fires of Pompeii’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. Power Month (Day 20) – ‘The Spit Flower’ (MMPR)

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’s blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Let’s have ourselves a Kimberley-focused ‘Power Rangers’ episode for today’s ‘Power Month’ instalment, as Kimberley builds a float containing flowers for an Angel Grove parade. Thankfully, Bulk and Skull don’t smash up the float as you might expect. It’s Rita Repulsa’s Putties that do that. The Power Rangers teens also have to thwart the menace of the Spit Flower, Rita’s latest monster, who devours and spits out flowers that end up having vicious teeth. Can the Rangers defeat the Spit Flower monster with the Dragon Megazord? Or is there another means of destroying the monster? Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Partners In Crime’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here we are on Series 4 of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. This is, in my opinion, the best season featured in the David Tennant/Tenth Doctor era of ‘Doctor Who’ and is my favourite. It features the return of Catherine Tate as Donna Noble, who previously appeared in ‘The Runaway Bride’ and she becomes the Tenth Doctor’s travelling companion in this season. We start off Series 4 with the episode ‘Partners In Crime’ by Russell T. Davies where the Tenth Doctor and Donna investigate Adipose Industries before they reunite with each other. The episode features the return of Jacqueline King as Sylvia, Donna’s mum, and Bernard Cribbins as Wilfred Mott, who previously appeared in ‘Voyage of the Damned’ and happens to be Donna’s granddad. There’s also special guest star Sarah Lancashire as Miss Foster. ‘Partners In Crime’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. Continue reading

Power Month (Day 19) – ‘Itsy Bitsy Spider’ (MMPR)

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’s blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time for a Zack-focused ‘Power Rangers’ episode in today’s ‘Power Month’ instalment, as we have Zack overcoming his fear of spiders. The Spirit Statue in Angel Grove gets stolen by Squatt and Baboo to be replaced by a duplicate statue containing the latest monster called Spidertron. Can Zack overcome his arachnophobia when fighting Spidertron? Will the other Rangers help Zack whilst fighting off Spidertron first on the ground and then fighting him as a giant in their Zords? There’s also a pet mouse – sorry, assistant – that Billy has in the episode called Jack. 😀 Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Voyage of the Damned’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time to check out the 2007 ‘Doctor Who’ Christmas Special, starring David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor. This is ‘Voyage of the Damned’ by Russell T. Davies, where the Doctor visits the starship Titanic. He meets Kylie Minogue as Astrid Peth, a waitress serving aboard the Titanic who might become the next ‘Doctor Who’ companion. This Christmas Special features a plethora of special guest stars like Geoffrey Palmer as Captain Hardaker, Russell Tovey as Midshipman Alonso Frame, Andrew Havill as the Chief Stewart, Gray O’Brien as Rickston Slade, Debbie Chazen as Foon Van Hoff, Clive Rowe as Morvin Van Hoff, Clive Swift as Mr. Copper, Jimmy Vee as Bannakaffalatta and there’s the debut of Bernard Cribbins as Wilfred Mott. The Heavenly Host robots also appear in this Christmas Special. 😀 ‘Voyage of the Damned’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. Continue reading

Power Month (Day 18) – ‘The Trouble With Shellshock’ (MMPR)

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’s blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s back to a single-episode story today, as we continue ‘Power Month’ by taking a look at the first ‘Power Rangers’ episode where Tommy is now a member of the Power Rangers team and isn’t trying to destroy his new-found friends. It’s time for ‘The Trouble With Shellshock’, where Squatt and Baboo create their own monster called Shellshock that they send in to destroy the Power Rangers. Can the Rangers thwart the new Shellshock monster with Trini running on the spot non-stop, and Kimberly, Billy and Zack being frozen? Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Time Crash’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Today, let’s check out another one of my favourite ‘Doctor Who’ stories from the new TV series, and it happens to be a mini-episode by Steven Moffat. This is ‘Time Crash’, an eight-minute Children In Need episode that was shown on the 16th of November 2007. It stars David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor and Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor. It was lovely to see this mini-episode back in 2007, as it features two of my favourite Doctors in ‘Doctor Who’. Also, with Peter Davison being a classic series Doctor meeting up with David Tennant as a new series Doctor, this mini-episode feels extra-special. ‘Time Crash’ can be checked out on DVD and Blu-ray as well as here via the following BBC YouTube video. 🙂 Continue reading
