‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Pyramid at the End of the World’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

We’re on the second half of Series 10 of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series today, and we’re checking out the second episode of ‘The Monks Trilogy’. It’s time for us to check out ‘The Pyramid at the End of the World’ by Peter Harness and Steven Moffat. Peter Harness previously wrote ‘Kill the Moon’ for Series 8 and he co-wrote ‘The Zygon Invasion’/’The Zygon Invasion’ with Steven Moffat for Series 9. Will ‘The Pyramid at the End of the World’ be more like ‘Kill the Moon’ or more like ‘The Zygon Invasion’/’The Zygon Inversion’? The episode stars Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor, Pearl Mackie as Bill and Matt Lucas as Nardole. There’s also Rachel Denning as Erica and Tony Gardner (who I’ve seen in ‘Young Hyacinth’ and ‘The Larkins’ as well as heard in the Big Finish audio story ‘The Wrong Doctors’) as Douglas. And there’s Tim Bentinck who returns to voice the Monks in the episode. I revisited the final scene of this episode on YouTube recently and found it very good. Does that reflect my overall feelings about ‘The Pyramid at the End of the World’? The episode can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. Continue reading

Quick TV Series Review – ‘The Larkins’ (Series 2)

SPOILERS ALERT!!!

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

As well as seeing Bradley Walsh in the ‘Doctor Who’ story ‘The Power of the Doctor’ this year, I’ve also seen him in Series 2 of ‘The Larkins’ on both ITV1 and Britbox. I greatly enjoyed watching Series 2 of ‘The Larkins’ after enjoying Series 1 and the Christmas Special back in 2021, which is amazing. 🙂 Continue reading

‘Young Hyacinth’ RE-REVEIWED

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Having revisited ‘Keeping Up Appearances’ on DVD lately, I decided to revisit the prequel to the BBC sitcom series called ‘Young Hyacinth’.  This was originally shown on BBC One as part of the BBC Landmark Sitcom Season in September 2016. After over five years since seeing this prequel, has my opinion changed much? Continue reading

TV Review – ‘The Larkins at Christmas’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

I was lucky in being able to see ‘The Larkins at Christmas’ on Christmas Day itself! 🙂 I was afraid I might miss it, as it clashed with the timing for the 2021 Christmas Special of ‘Call the Midwife’ on BBC One. Thankfully I was pretty lucky to see ‘The Larkins at Christmas’ on a repeat channel for ITV1. Continue reading

Quick TV Series Review – ‘The Larkins’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

‘The Larkins’ is a 2021 TV adaptation of the H. E. Bates novel ‘The Darling Buds of May’. I was aware of ‘The Darling Buds of May’ before checking out this series, having seen the first episode (I believe) of the 1991-93 series, which starred David Jason, Pam Ferris, Philip Franks and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ Marathon – ‘The Pyramid at the End of the World’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time for the second episode of ‘The Monks Trilogy’ in Series 10 of ‘Doctor Who’ called ‘The Pyramid at the End of the World’. I recall being really frustrated with this episode at the time I saw it on TV. My thoughts are more or less the same in my current review for it, though I have gained clarity on the episode. Hello everyone! 🙂

Today, my ‘Doctor Who’ review of ‘The Wrong Doctors’ with Colin Baker as the Sixth Doctor and Bonnie Langford as Mel is now online!

This is a multi-Doctor story featuring two Sixth Doctors and two Mels. It’s all about how the Sixth Doctor and Mel first meet and it gets very confusing! 😀 Continue reading

TV Review – ‘Young Hyacinth’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Yesterday, I saw the prequel to the BBC TV sitcom ‘Keeping Up Appearances’ called ‘Young Hyacinth’. It was shown on BBC One in the UK as part of the BBC Landmark Sitcom Season. Because I loved seeing ‘Keeping Up Appearances’ as a series, I naturally wanted to watch this prequel on TV. Continue reading
