‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – Series 12 Summary

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Series 12 of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series is where Chris Chibnall finds his mark as the then showrunner. Jodie Whittaker is also in her stride as the Thirteenth Doctor, along with Bradley Walsh as Graham, Tosin Cole as Ryan and Mandip Gill as Yaz. But Series 12 isn’t entirely warmly received. 😐 Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Haunting of Villa Diodati’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time for another historical ‘Doctor Who’ adventure. This is ‘The Haunting of Villa Diodati’ by Maxine Alderton, where the Thirteenth Doctor TARDIS team go back in time to the year 1816 and they visit the titular Villa Diodati near Lake Geneva somewhere in Switzerland. Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor, Bradley Walsh as Graham, Tosin Cole as Ryan and Mandip Gill as Yaz meet Lili Miller as Mary Shelley, along with Maxim Baldry (who was in ‘Mr. Bean’s Holiday’ in 2007 and recently in ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’) as Dr. John Polidori, Nadia Parkes as Claire Clairmont and Jacob Collins-Levy as Lord Byron. There’s also the return of the Cybermen – or in fact, it’s the debut of Patrick O’Kane as Ashad, the Lone Cyberman. This story is supposed to depict the ‘Doctor Who’ origins of how Mary Shelley became the author of ‘Frankenstein’ from her meeting with the Thirteenth Doctor TARDIS team and her encounter with the Lone Cyberman. But is this ‘Doctor Who’ episode very satisfying for me? Is there something about the episode that doesn’t work for me on a certain level? ‘The Haunting of Villa Diodati’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. Continue reading

March of the Thirteenth Doctor #29

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

This is a ‘Doctor Who’ TV episode I have mixed feelings about. In ‘The Haunting of Villa Diodati’, the Thirteenth Doctor, Graham, Ryan and Yaz meet Mary Shelley for the first time. This story would’ve been fine if I hadn’t heard the Big Finish audios featuring Paul McGann’s Eighth Doctor and Mary Shelley to spoil my enjoyment. Continue reading

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

In preparation for the ‘March of the Thirteenth Doctor’ review season in March 2021, I’m sharing my Blu-ray reviews on Series 12 of ‘Doctor Who’ today. Series 12 of ‘Doctor Who’ stars Jodie Whittaker, Bradley Walsh, Tosin Cole and Mandip Gill. Have my thoughts on the season changed since first seeing it in early 2020? Continue reading

TV Review – ‘The Haunting of Villa Diodati’ (Doctor Who)

SPOILERS ALERT!!!

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

(sighs) ‘The Haunting of Villa Diodati’! Here we go. First things first, I appreciate there are people out there who really like this episode. Because…yeah. This was a well-directed and decently-paced ‘Doctor Who’ episode with a creepy, spooky atmosphere thrown in for good measure. You would expect that. Continue reading
