Quick DVD Reviews – ‘Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

For Christmas 2024, I gave my parents the Series 1-4 DVD collection of the BBC TV drama mystery series ‘Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators’. It was a winner for them as well as for me. So much so that I later purchased the 2022 Christmas Special on DVD. Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Time of the Doctor’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here we are on the final adventure of the Matt Smith/Eleventh Doctor era of ‘Doctor Who’. This is ‘The Time of the Doctor’, the 2013 Christmas Special by Steven Moffat, starring Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor and Jenna Coleman as Clara Oswald. It’s the fourth Christmas Special to feature Matt Smith’s Eleventh Doctor. The special also has Daleks, Cybermen, Weeping Angels, Sontarans, the Silence and plenty more monsters to finish off the Eleventh Doctor. There’s Orla Brady (who I’ve seen more recently in the ‘Star Trek: Picard’ series) as Tasha Lem, and there are guest stars like Sheila Reid (who was in ‘Vengeance on Varos’) as Clara’s Gran. Tessa Peake-Jones (well-known for being in ‘Only Fools and Horses’ and she would go on to be in ‘Grantchester’) makes a small guest role in the special as Marta. There’s also a couple of guest cameos, including a past face and a new face in ‘Doctor Who’. 😀 Will this be a satisfying swansong of a ‘Doctor Who’ adventure for Matt Smith’s Doctor? Can a single Christmas Special conclude the Eleventh Doctor era entirely on a worthwhile note? ‘The Time of the Doctor’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. Continue reading

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley.

And we’ve come to the end of Series 6 of ‘Grantchester’! I’m amazed by how time has flown by. To think Series 6 of ‘Grantchester’ started at the beginning of September and it’s now finished towards the end of October. So, what do I think of the finale to Series 6 of ‘Grantchester’? Was it worth it? 😐 Continue reading

Quick TV Review – ‘Grantchester’, Series 6, Episode 7

Hello everyone. 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley.

It’s time to talk about the seventh episode of Series 6 in ‘Grantchester’! I saw this episode last Friday when I was away for the ‘Bedford Who Charity Con’. I enjoyed watching this episode when I was in my hotel room in Bedford last Friday. Mind you, the episode itself can be pretty depressing in places. Continue reading

Quick TV Review – ‘Grantchester’, Series 6, Episode 6

Hello everyone. 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley.

I’ve seen the sixth episode of Series 6 of ‘Grantchester’ on ITV1 shown last Friday! Usually, this is where a season of ‘Grantchester’ ends, but there are two more episodes to follow since Series 6’s episode count has been extended from 6 to 8 episodes, which isn’t the case in the previous seasons. Continue reading

Quick TV Review – ‘Grantchester’, Series 6, Episode 5

SPOILERS ALERT!!!

Hello everyone. 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley.

Well, we’re five episodes in of Series 6 of ‘Grantchester’ and we have three episodes left. A lot has happened in terms of how our main characters’ journeys have progressed, especially Leonard’s. I felt rather sad in terms of how Leonard’s journey has ended up so far. I hope that he’ll return very soon. Continue reading

Quick TV Review – ‘Grantchester’, Series 6, Episode 4

Hello everyone. 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley.

Well, after hearing about the filming on Series 7 of ‘Grantchester’ that took place this year (maybe Series 7 will be transmitted sooner rather than later in 2022), it’s time to talk about Series 6, Episode 4 of the crime drama series. And the crime-solving case occurs all in one night at the police station! 🙂 Continue reading

Quick TV Review – ‘Grantchester’, Series 6, Episode 3

SPOILERS ALERT!!!

Hello everyone. 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley.

I found the latest ‘Grantchester’ episode in Series 6 a tough one to sit through. The drama and the actors’ performances are very good, but concerning the sensitive topic about homosexuality being illegal in the 1950s and a character that I’ve grown to like over the years, it was tough to sit through. Quick TV Review – ‘Grantchester’, Series 6, Episode 2

Hello everyone. 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley.

I’ve seen Series 6, Episode 2 of ‘Grantchester’! I enjoyed the episode very much and found it compelling. I especially liked the Wisdom of Solomon story given at the end by Tom Brittney as Will Davenport since it’s very fitting for what goes on in the episode. I am worried about Leonard though.
