‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Time Heist’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time for us to check out the fifth episode in Series 8 of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series, which is ‘Time Heist’ by Steve Thompson and Steven Moffat. Steve Thompson previously contributed two stories in the Matt Smith/Eleventh Doctor era, which were ‘The Curse of the Black Spot’ and ‘Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS’. Here, we have a ‘Doctor Who’ episode where Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor and Jenna Coleman as Clara Oswald find themselves having to rob a bank, and they’re joined by two allies, including Jonathan Bailey as Psi and Pippa Bennett-Warner as Saibra. There’s special guest star Keeley Hawes as Ms. Delphox as well as Madame Karabraxos. I’ve seen Keeley Hawes in the 1998 BBC TV adaptation of ‘Our Mutual Friend’ and the 1999 BBC TV adaptation of ‘Wives & Daughters’. Recently, she’s been in ‘The Durrells’ TV series. There’s also an uncredited cameo appearance of Samuel Anderson as Danny Pink, and there’s the alien Teller (played by Ross Mullan) who can turn people’s brains into soup. 😐 Oh, and the memory worms from ‘The Snowmen’ are back. 😀 ‘Time Heist’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here we are on a ‘Doctor Who’ episode in the new TV series that gets to delve deeper into the TARDIS. This is ‘Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS’ by Steve Thompson, who previously penned ‘The Curse of the Black Spot’ in Series 6 of the new TV series. In the episode, the TARDIS gets hit by a salvage ship’s magnetic tractor beam, which causes a lot of damage to the ship’s engines. Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor forces the salvage crew to help him rescue Jenna Coleman as Clara Oswald, when she gets lost in the depths of the sentient space and time machine. This episode features special guest star Ashley Walters as Gregor van Baalen. I’ve seen Ashely Walters in the 2006 film adaptation of ‘Stormbreaker’. Apparently, this episode is based on showrunner Steven Moffat’s frustrations with ‘The Invasion of Time’, which intended to explore the TARDIS’ interior. Does this episode excite me enough as a ‘Doctor Who’ fan when our heroes delve deeper into the TARDIS? ‘Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Curse of the Black Spot’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Today in the ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon, we’re checking out the Series 6 episode in the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series called ‘The Curse of the Black Spot’ by Steve Thompson (who has also written for the ‘Sherlock’ TV series run by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss). This is a ‘Doctor Who’ episode where Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor, Karen Gillan as Amy Pond and Arthur Darvill as Rory Williams find themselves on a pirate adventure. They board a pirate ship in the 17th century, which happens to be captained by Hugh Bonnerville (well-known for being in ‘Downton Abbey’ and the two ‘Paddington’ films) as Captain Henry Avery. Apparently, there’s a connection between this episode and the 1966 TV story called ‘The Smugglers’. 🙂 Will this be like a ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ adventure, even though the pirate crew are cursed with the Black Spot and there’s a female Siren about? ‘The Curse of the Black Spot’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here is a fan-pleasing episode of ‘Doctor Who’ in the new series. This is ‘Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS’ by Steve Thompson. I enjoyed this episode and how it explored more of the TARDIS with the Doctor and Clara. Mind you, I didn’t watch this episode on its original transmission via TV as I saw it on DVD instead.
