‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Cold War’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

The ‘Doctor Who’ episode that we’re checking out today is the one that features the return of the Ice Warriors (well, one of them anyway 😀 ) in the new TV series. This is ‘Cold War’ by Mark Gatiss. 🙂 ‘Cold War’ has Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor and Jenna Coleman as Clara visiting a Soviet submarine in 1983 during the Cold War. It’s where the Ice Warrior called Grand Marshal Skaldak (played by Spencer Wilding and voiced by Nicholas Briggs) breaks loose and plots revenge against humanity. There are special guest stars in the episode like Liam Cunningham (who I’ve seen in the 2007 TV adaptation of ‘Northanger Abbey’) as Captain Zhukov. There’s the late David Warner (who I’ve met at conventions, seen in two ‘Star Trek’ films and heard in the Big Finish audios) as Professor Grisenko. There’s Josh O’Connor (who’s been in ‘The Durrells’ and the 2020 film ‘Emma.’) as Piotr, there’s Tobias Menzies (who’s been in the 2007 TV adaptation of ‘Persuasion’) as Lieutenant Stepashin, and there’s James Norton (well-known for playing Sidney Chambers in ‘Grantchester’) as Onegin. ‘Cold War’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. Quick TV Episode Review – ‘Grantchester’, Series 3, Episode 6

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here we are on the last episode of Series 3 of ‘Grantchester’! I’ve enjoyed Series 3 and the season finale has been satisfying. It’s sad one of the romances in the episode didn’t become successful in the end, but I expected it to be so. I am happy with how Sidney and Geordie’s characters turned out. Continue reading

Quick TV Episode Review – ‘Grantchester’, Series 3, Episode 5

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

After the devastating effects of the previous episode in Series 3 of ‘Grantchester’, I was expecting things to get worse. Don’t get me wrong, there are still dilemmas to be resolved, especially by the end of the fifth episode, but I didn’t find Series 3, Episode 5 as depressing as I thought it would be. 🙂 Continue reading

Quick TV Episode Review – ‘Grantchester’, Series 3, Episode 4

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

This ‘Grantchester’ episode that I’m doing a quick review on is a pretty grim one to talk about. It seems that the mistakes Sidney and Geordie have made in Series 3 so far and how they handle their love lives are coming back to haunt them. And we haven’t even reached the penultimate episode! 😐 Continue reading

Quick TV Episode Review – ‘Grantchester’, Series 3, Episode 3

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

I’m halfway through Series 3 of ‘Grantchester’. Even though I know what’s going to happen in Series 4 and 5 later on, it’s very interesting to see how the first three seasons turn out. I’m curious about how it’ll turn out for Sidney’s relationship with Amanda and for Geordie’s affair with Margaret. Hmm! Continue reading

Quick TV Episode Review – ‘Grantchester’, Series 3, Episode 2

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

I saw this ‘Grantchester’ episode way before I saw any of Series 4 and 5 episodes as well as the Series 1, 2 and 3 episodes. This episode perked my interest because a certain ‘Doctor Who’ star was in it. Lately, I’ve gained more knowledge of the ‘Grantchester’ series and know the characters more. Continue reading

Quick TV Episode Review – ‘Grantchester’, Series 3, Episode 1

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time for Series 3 of ‘Grantchester’! I’m not sure how things will turn out in Series 3, but things should be very interesting for our characters including James Norton as Sidney and Robson Green as Geordie. How will they handle their personal lives as well as solve numerous crimes in Grantchester? Continue reading

Quick TV Episode Review – ‘Grantchester’, Christmas Special 2016

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

The 2016 Christmas Special of ‘Grantchester’ has the distinction of being the only ‘Grantchester’ Christmas Special to be made so far. Unlike ‘Call the Midwife’ and ‘Doctor Who’ where they would regularly make festive episodes every year, ‘Grantchester’ hasn’t done that many Christmas Specials. Continue reading

Quick TV Episode Review – ‘Grantchester’, Series 2, Episode 6

SPOILERS ALERT!!!

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

And here we are on the final episode of Series 2 of ‘Grantchester’. This season has been gripping to watch with a certain story going through it about Abigail Redmond’s death and such. I’ve also found the sixth Series 2 episode of ‘Grantchester’ a happier one since it seems to start off a new beginning. Continue reading

Quick TV Episode Review – ‘Grantchester’, Series 2, Episode 5

SPOILERS ALERT!!!

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Series 2 of ‘Grantchester’ draws to a close as we’re on the penultimate episode. Things become grizzly by the time the fifth episode comes to an end. This is especially when one of the characters that has been prevalent in Series 2 gets killed off and we have a punch-out between our two leads! 😦 Continue reading
