Hello everyone! 🙂
Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!
I seem to be doing quite a lot of ‘Back to the Future’ reviews this year! I mean, more than usual. Not that I’m complaining, since it’s been great to celebrate ‘Back to the Future’s 40th anniversary more than once. And that’s more than revisiting the film trilogy itself in 2025.
Earlier this year, I checked out and reviewed the first ‘Back to the Future’s movie novelization by George Gipe. I later saw ‘Back to the Future – The Musical’ at the Adelphi Theatre in London twice in August and September. I also reviewed the musical’s CD album.
I’m currently checking out the ‘Back to the Future, Part II’ novelization by Craig Shaw Gardner and I’m looking forward to checking out the ‘Back to the Future, Part III’ novelization soon. Hopefully, I’ll do all these ‘Back to the Future’ reviews by December. 😀
Last weekend, I saw the first ‘Back to the Future’ film at the cinema at Showcase Cinemas in Nantgarw. It was nice to revisit the film recently. I believe this was the first time I saw the first ‘Back to the Future’ film on the big screen compared to viewing it on DVD and Blu-ray.
In 2024, I saw ‘Back to the Future, Part II’ on the big screen in October to celebrate ‘Back to the Future’ Day. I’m very surprised the first ‘Back to the Future’ film wasn’t re-released on the 21st of October instead of the 31st of October, as that’s when ‘Back to the Future’ Day is.
Regardless, I’m glad I saw the film again on the big screen to celebrate the occasion, and it’s no surprise that the film is still compelling as always when seeing it at the cinema. No matter how many times you see the film, it continues to be spectacular and never dull. 🙂
I’m sure I’ve said this about other films in my cinema experiences blog posts, but when you see movies that you love on the big screen compared to the small screen, you pick out more details compared what you saw before. This applies to the first ‘Back to the Future’ film.
I didn’t realise that Ronald Reagan’s name was on a movie poster or on the front of a movie theater once Marty McFly finds himself in Hill Valley in 1955 for the first time. I also didn’t notice Assembly of Christ is on the front of what I believe to be an old theater in 1985. 🙂
Incidentally, when Doc Brown joked about Jane Wyman being the First Lady of America to Marty once he heard Ronald Reagan was the President of the United States in 1985, for your information, Jane Wyman was a film star that worked with and was married to Ronald Reagan.
I know this because my Dad’s been seeing films with Priscilla Lane, and two of them have Ronald Reagan and Jane Wyman together – ‘Brother Rat’ and ‘Brother Rat and a Baby’. Anyway, it was nice to hear Ronald Reagan and Jane Wyman be mentioned in ‘Back to the Future’ lately.
Also, when revisiting ‘Back to the Future’ on the big screen recently, I couldn’t help but pick out certain moments where musical numbers from ‘Back to the Future – The Musical’ could have been included like ‘You’ve Got to Start Somewhere’, ‘It Works’ and ‘Put Your Mind to It’. 😀
It was surreal to think about that when revisiting the film. ‘Back to the Future – The Musical’ was even promoted in a trailer before the film began. 😀 I was hoping they were going to promote a limited re-release of ‘Back to the Future – The Musical’ at the cinema. Sadly not, which is a shame.
The performances of the cast in ‘Back to the Future’ continue to be excellent, including the likes of Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd. I know the lines off by heart now, but I still enjoy checking out the film for its characters and the clever storytelling featured in it.
Once again, I’m glad I revisited the first ‘Back to the Future’ film at the cinema recently. It’s been nice to celebrate ‘Back to the Future’s 40th anniversary this year. I hope there will come a time when all three films will be re-released at cinemas, as I enjoy them so much.
This won’t be the last of my ‘Back to the Future’ 40th anniversary celebrations on ‘Bradley’s Basement’ this year, as I’m looking forward to sharing my reviews on the movie novelizations of ‘Back to the Future, Parts II and III’ by Craig Shaw Gardner. Stay tuned! 🙂
Thanks for reading!
Bye for now!
Tim 🙂
