Season 2 of ‘Doctor Who’ with William Hartnell on Blu-ray #7

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time to check out what is regarded the weakest story out of the nine stories featured in Season 2 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series called ‘The Space Museum’, a four-part story by Glyn Jones. The story has the TARDIS jumping a time-track and our heroes – William Hartnell as the First Doctor, William Russell as Ian, Jacqueline Hill as Barbara and Maureen O’Brien as Vicki – have to avert a future where they end up dead in boxes in display at a futuristic Space Museum on the planet Xeros, run by the militaristic Moroks. The story also features special guest star Jeremy Bulloch as Tor, the Xeron leader. Jeremy Bulloch would go on to play Hal the Archer in ‘The Time Warrior’ and be the body of Boba Fett in the original ‘Star Wars’ film trilogy.

Once again, there’s no ‘Behind the Sofa’ item featuring Maureen O’Brien, Peter Purves and Carole Ann Ford, Janet Fielding, Wendy Padbury and Sarah Sutton, and Bonnie Langford and Sophie Aldred to enjoy on ‘The Space Museum’ Blu-ray disc, which is a shame. Thankfully, I’ve enjoyed revisiting ‘The Space Museum’ in the Season 2 Blu-ray box set, along with its Blu-ray special features. It’s nice to see the ‘Defending the Museum’ featurette with new series writer Robert Shearman (writer of ‘Dalek’) on ‘The Space Museum’ Blu-ray disc and it’s been intriguing to check out the ‘Doctor Who and the Collectors: Part One – The 1960s’ documentary with Emily Cook. Over the years, ‘The Space Museum’ has been considered a below-par ‘Doctor Who’ story. But is it really that bad?

Please feel free to check out, read and comment on my updated review for ‘The Space Museum’ by clicking on the link for it. This contains a review on the TV story.

You can purchase ‘Doctor Who – The Collection – Season 2’ on Blu-ray either from Amazon.co.uk or Amazon.com.

Enjoy!

Bye for now!

Tim. 🙂
